Every family has stories.

The stories that get told at every reunion.
The stories that make everyone laugh.
The stories that make everyone uncomfortable.
And the stories that explain how we got here.

This summer, we're diving into some of the Bible's most complicated family stories in our new sermon series, Family Reunion: A Journey Through Genesis. From sibling rivalries and family drama to forgiveness, grace, and God's faithfulness through it all.

Join us Sundays at 11am at McKenzie United Methodist Church as we gather around these ancient stories and explore what they still have to teach us today.

The forecast is calling for homemade ice cream and good company, which sounds like a pretty great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Join us this Sunday at 2pm at the Hokett home. Come enjoy some homemade ice cream, catch up with friends, and spend a little time together outside the usual Sunday routine!

Bring a friend, bring your appetite, and maybe save a little room after lunch.

We'll see you there!

After a wonderful spring season of Shepherd's Supper, we'll be taking our annual summer break!

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who cooked, served, delivered meals, donated desserts, washed dishes, set tables, and helped make Wednesday evenings such a special part of our community. Your generosity has blessed so many people throughout the year!

While Shepherd's Supper is on hiatus, we encourage everyone to continue supporting our local Honey Grove restaurants and businesses this summer. Our community is stronger when we show up for one another!

Be sure to mark your calendars now: Shepherd's Supper returns on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026! We can't wait to gather around the table with you again.

Have a safe, restful, and joy-filled summer!

McKenzie UMC was well represented at the Horizon Texas Annual Conference this week in Wichita Falls!

For Lucas, it was his very first Annual Conference.

For Pastor Keri Lynn, it was Annual Conference #11.

And for Gloria…well, let’s just say she’s attended enough Annual Conferences to know where everything is, who everyone is, and probably where they keep the extra coffee.

We enjoyed a great few days worshiping, learning, voting, reconnecting with old friends, and celebrating the many ways God is at work across our United Methodist connection!

Thank you for the opportunity to represent McKenzie UMC. We are grateful to be part of a church that is bigger than any one congregation and connected to faithful people serving Christ across Texas and beyond!

Whether it’s a song that carried you through hard seasons, reminds you of home, or simply won’t leave your heart, we’d love to sing it together.

Sunday Recap:
What keeps your window open when pressure closes in from every side?

Daniel knew the consequences. He knew people were watching. He knew praying could cost him everything. Yet he went upstairs, opened the window toward Jerusalem, and knelt to pray—just as he had done before. Not performing faith. Not staging a protest. Simply refusing to abandon the practices that shaped his soul.

The deepest danger was never really the lions. It was the pressure to become someone other than who God created him to be.

In a world that constantly pressures people toward fear, outrage, cynicism, and hardness, faithfulness can look surprisingly ordinary: keeping the window open. Open toward hope. Open toward grace. Open toward prayer.

The Pressured Adventurer keeps loving when cynicism would be easier, keeps praying when life becomes heavy, and keeps showing up when the world says stop.

Because closed rooms cannot receive fresh wind.
