We will reinforce basic Christian values (i.e. kindness, fair play, honesty, etc.). We will gladly accept any child of any religion. We do celebrate the Christian Holidays of Christmas and Easter, as well as, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day and St. We do also say grace before our snack. Our philosophy is that each child learns, through our teaching as well as through our example, the valu
e of sharing, taking turns, being kind, fair play, having fun and making new friends. We are pleased that you are considering Central United Methodist Preschool for your child’s first school experience. We all know that children learn what they live, and therefore, it is, and always has been, our firm commitment to our students, that we surround them with an environment that is conducive to the development of a happy, well adjusted child. Over 50 years ago, there was a need for a kindergarten, as Honesdale School District did not provide one. Beulah Eastman saw this need and went about filling it. Today, this program is a preschool. Presently, we offer a four (4) year old program ( 4 years old by September 1st) that meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 – 11:30 a.m. We have two teachers for the class of 16 children. These teachers are Mrs. Lisa Semler and Mrs. Mary Robbins. There is also a three (3) year old ( 3 years old by September 1st and potty trained) program that meets Tuesday and Thursday from 9 – 11:30 a.m. Our teacher for this program is Mrs. This class has 12 students. Classes are held from early September to late May. All of our staff and volunteers keep updated clearances on file in the church office. When possible, we follow the Wayne Highlands School District schedule. You may contact our Church office for more information @ 570-253-3291. We follow the Highland recommendation to prepare your child for kindergarten. We focus on colors, shapes, numbers, ABC’s, the child’s address and phone number along with a variety of other simple facts that are common to everyday life. We learn many songs, finger plays and games for each season. We will take many walking field trips around the town such as to the Wayne County Conservation Office, the Library and the fire station to name just a few. We also have special fun days including but not limited to camping day, carnival day and cowboy day. We also have available to our students, a computer, in order to familiarize them with the basics of this essential learning tool of our modern world. Newsletter
Each month we will e-mail a newsletter for the coming month. It will contain information regarding upcoming events, field trips and special days. Please keep this handy so you can prepare your child accordingly. Snacks
We feel it is beneficial to serve juice, milk or water with crackers, cookies or pretzels. To help keep tuition costs down, we will ask each parent to provide 3 days worth of snacks. Providing a special snack for a child’s birthday is always welcome. Please check with us regarding any food allergies a child may have. Preschool staff: (4 year old) Mrs. Costs:
