Most people think about coming to a church to join together with others of like faith, to sing and give praise to God. Others may think that they can only worship God in a more natural setting, like a forest, or up on a mountain top. But God teaches us in His word, that worship is not dependent on a place, a song, or the presence of other people. When Jesus returned to Heaven, and gave us the Holy
Spirit to be our counsel, He reminded us that “God is Spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). God desires to “inhabit the praise of His people”, and the only way He can do that, is if we truly worship Him…with all our hearts…with all our souls…and with all our minds. At First Baptist Church of Hondo, we strive for our worship to be totally focused and centered on the Father, Savior, and Encourager of our souls. Worship occurs when our minds, hearts, and strength converge in order to praise God. We worship God by reading His word…by listening to His word being taught…by serving with our spiritual gifts…by giving to His church….and by lifting our prayers to the One who loves us more than we can ever comprehend. You see, the true definition of “worship” is, “Our response to God for Who He is, and what He has done in our lives”.
