CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Environmental Police are warning the public to be cautious and give space to Canada geese, which are currently unable to fly due to molting their primary feathers.
On Friday, the Environmental Police said that over the past week, officers have responded to several incidents involving individuals attempting to harm or kill Canada geese. They are asking residents to avoid harassing, herding, scaring, or running them over, as such actions are illegal and can result in citations or arrest.
Since the geese are grounded for about a month, they may struggle to move out of the way of vehicles, boats, and machinery during this period.
