Hey friends! In a world where opinions can get pretty loud, our hearts crave some genuine godly wisdom. James reminds us that true wisdom is all about being pure, peaceable, gentle, ready to listen, and filled with mercy. This Sunday, we’re wrapping up our Salt & Light series with a focus on “Salt for Wisdom, Light for Peace and Justice.” Just imagine if our homes, churches, and communities embraced humility over pride, mercy instead of hostility, and peacemaking instead of division! Let’s come together to discover the kind of wisdom that can mend relationships and shine a light in our world that really needs it.
Join us at Holt United Methodist Church, located at 130 Church Street. We’d love to see you at our worship service this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. You are always welcome here!

You know, James really hits the nail on the head when he talks about how our genuine faith shows up in our actions. It’s not about earning God’s grace with good deeds—grace is a gift we receive first. But when that grace takes hold in our lives, it naturally leads to love shining through us! This week, why not take a moment to notice a need around you that you might usually overlook? Maybe it’s dropping off a meal for someone, giving a call to a lonely friend, or lending a hand to a neighbor with their chores. Even a little encouragement can make a world of difference for someone carrying a heavy load. You don’t have to tackle every issue; just focus on responding to one need that comes your way. Let’s let our light shine through simple acts of love!

We remember the life and ministry of Bishop Albert Frederick “Fritz” Mutti, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at the age of 88.

Bishop Mutti had deep roots in Missouri and in the life of our Annual Conference. Born in Hopkins, Missouri, he was ordained and a member in full connection in the previous Missouri West Conference. He was elected to the episcopacy by the South Central Jurisdictional Conference in 1992 and served the Kansas Area until his retirement in 2004. Throughout his ministry, Bishop Mutti provided significant leadership to the wider UMC, particularly in ecumenical ministry and global health. He and his wife, Etta Mae, were longtime advocates for the United Methodist Global AIDS Fund. You can read his full bio here: www.unitedmethodistbishops.org/person-detail/2462347

Hey there! Have you ever thought about whether faith is just something we say we believe in? James has a pretty clear take on this: "Faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead." This Sunday, we’re diving into an uplifting message titled "Salt That Transforms the Heart, Light That Works Through Deeds." We believe that God’s grace does so much more than just shape our thoughts; it truly transforms our hearts, priorities, and how we react to the needs around us. We don’t serve others to earn God’s love—no way! We serve because we are already embraced by His incredible love, and that love is too big to keep to ourselves.
We would love for you to join us as we discover a faith that comes alive through compassion, generosity, and service. You can find us at Holt United Methodist Church, 130 Church Street, this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. See you there!

Please keep this family in your prayers.

Hey there! Jesus invites us all—just regular folks—to step into something truly amazing: being the salt of the earth and the light of the world! At Holt UMC, we're diving into this exciting series where we’ll uncover how God’s grace transforms us on the inside, inspiring us to share compassion, mercy, justice, peace, and hope with those around us. Hey there! James reminds us of the beautiful “royal law”: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (James 2:8). This week, let’s open our eyes and hearts to the amazing people around us, especially those who often go unnoticed—the shy individual, the newcomer, the person dining solo, or the hardworking staff we might take for granted. Why not take a moment to learn their name? Start a friendly chat, and really listen to their story. A simple word of thanks can make a huge difference! By showing kindness to those the world sometimes overlooks, we can let the light of Christ shine through us. Let’s spread some love and make those connections!
