HURRICANE HELEN UPDATE 10/2/2024

Dear Members & Friends of Gloria Dei Lutheran:

As a result of flooding from Hurricane Helene we suffered extensive damage through the entire building. The process of remediation and repairs will be extensive over a long period of time.

The first step was to hire ServPro. They are in the process of remediation which includes drying out and removal of all unsalvageable materials. Our quote for the remediation which is a necessary first step is estimated to be $200,000.

The church does not have flood insurance. Due to the dramatic increase in premium the congregation voted several years ago to discontinue the coverage.

We are investigating any assistance for resources available. It is necessary to ask for financial assistance as well as your continued prayers. Rest assured it is our goal to resume worship as soon as possible.

Mail delivery on the island is suspended for now. Your contributions may be made through the Gloria Dei Website or sent directly to our Treasurer, Rudy Marohl at: 8646 46th Ave Cir W, Bradenton, FL 34210

Checks should be made out to Gloria Dei Lutheran.

We will continue to update you as we work through this process.

While we work hard to recover as quickly as possible, we are humbled by the support that is coming our way from places near and far. We can update you that the mitigation process has started, and we are hoping it moves swiftly. The School for Constructive Play has thankfully been offered a temporary home at The Center of Anna Maria. We will do our best to update you every step of the way!
