Just think while you are sitting there ready to go out of today and enjoy this day 1% of the United States population will put on a set of BDUs to keep you and everyone else safe and free. Memorial Day on my world long ago meant the start of 101 days of summer. The friday before memorial day everyone on our base crammed into the base movie theater for one of the two lectures on 101 days. It was to make extra sure we looked out for each other cause during this time over 70% of our fatalities and injuries happened. Half the DUIs that our members would get were in this time too. Memories of the AC not working to cool off an over crowded theater making us be prepared for the heat and knowing there would be one or more of us in the hospital that day with a IV in arm for dehydration. That day nobody would be left behind or forgotten.
Now on this day and time I think of my father that served and I just lost November 10 2023. He is added to both my grandfather's memorials that served. RIP dad and thanks for all you did for me and everyone of us not knowing about what you did and gave up at that time. I will get things straightened out for you and me with what has happened to us and our other service members while the government looked the other way. Have a great and blessed Memorial day y'all and look out for each other please don't be that person that looks the other way when help is needed even if it's a call or text. Peace and Freedom
