Johns is a Reconciling in Christ congregation. All persons are welcome to participate fully in the worship and programs of this community, regardless of race, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, family status, health, faith tradition, or economic circumstance. Properly attended pets are also welcome to come to worship with their humans.

The family of Dr. Larry Dee, DVM, wishes you to know that he passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 83. Larry was a very kind and caring person and a devoted husband, son, brother, and uncle. Further, he was an exceptional veterinarian and a generous philanthropist.

Larry was born on October 26, 1942, the second of five children of Dr. Clarence E. Dee, DVM, and Lucille E. Dee. Larry and his siblings grew up on his family's small farm in Broward County. He graduated from South Broward High School, Duke University, and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University.

Larry's father, Clarence, and his uncle, Ivan C. Frederickson, co-founded the Hollywood Animal Hospital in 1948. Larry, older brother Jon, and younger brother James all became veterinarians, and they all worked together at the Hollywood Animal Hospital until their retirements. All worked with their father and their mother until their passing.

Although Larry suffered from failing health during the last few years of his life, he was content, thanks to the support provided by Rita Fisher Dee, his extended family, and his faith. Indeed, Larry frequently stated that "I have a loving wife and two loving dogs. What else could I want?"

A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 1 p.m., in St. Johns Lutheran Church. Family and friends are welcome to attend. The church is located at 2919 Van Buren Street, Hollywood, FL 33020, and is adjacent to the Hollywood Animal Hospital.

The same power that raised Jesus… is not distant. It’s not reserved for someday. It’s at work in you... right now. In your strength when you feel weak. In your hope when life feels uncertain. In your peace when everything around you feels heavy. You don’t walk into today alone. You walk in resurrection power. 🙌

So lift your head. Take the next step. Trust that God is already working in ways you cannot see. “His incomparably great power for us who believe… that power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead.” — Ephesians 1:19–20

Easter Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. AND ~10:45 a.m. in our parish hall.
Easter Egg Hunt at ~10:45 a.m. in the yard.

Holy Saturday reminds us… God is still working in the silence. The waiting is real. The questions are real. The darkness can feel heavy. But just because you can’t see movement doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Behind the silence… God is preparing resurrection. 🙌

So if you’re in a waiting season... don’t lose heart. What feels still may actually be sacred. What feels like an ending may already be the beginning. “He was buried… and on the third day He was raised to life.” — 1 Corinthians 15:4

There will be NO Holy Saturday service at St. Johns. Great Vigil of Easter @ 6:00 p.m. on Holy Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1704 Buchanan St (at Federal Hwy) in Hollywood, and here in our sanctuary through Our Lady of Hope Orthodox (Father Del's church). All are welcome to both services - we'll start our Easter early!

Take a Mindful Moment:
Pause for a breath. Let go of the pressure to “get it right.” Receive this truth instead: you are already known, already loved, already held.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for loving me before I could fix myself. Thank You for the cross that met me in my weakness and the resurrection that calls me into new life. Help me walk today in grace, gratitude, and quiet trust. In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏

There will be NO Good Friday or Holy Saturday services at St. Johns. On Good Friday, you may go to Trinity Lutheran Church at 7 p.m., 7150 Pines Blvd in Pembroke Pines.

Good Friday Tenebrae Service at St. John's Episcopal Church @ 6 p.m.; Great Vigil of Easter @ 6 p.m. on Holy Saturday, 1704 Buchanan St (at Federal Hwy) in Hollywood.

Good Friday and Holy Saturday there WILL BE services here in our sanctuary through Our Lady of Hope Orthodox (Father Del's church). All are welcome to the services at 6:00 p.m.
