Is it possible that shame could ever be a good thing?

When so many people have been hurt by the church, does it make any sense at all for us to do what Paul tells the church and to have nothing to do with a brother or sister who no longer follows the Lord?

Why does Paul say he hopes anyone at all would feel shame?

Let's look at the last verses of 2 Thessalonians and learn about the strange grace of shame.

Paul says being a faithful hardworking person is so important, if you see a Christian taking advantage of others, you shouldn't eat with that person. Even more shocking, Paul says that person shouldn't eat at all!

Let's ask the Lord to make us useful in the name of Jesus.

People thought Daniel would die when he prayed. Moses wasn't excited to speak to the rock. Paul admitted that the cross is foolishness to the world.

Have you thought about how much of our faith seems weak and powerless?

Let's look at how to cry out to God, trust his faithfulness, and be faithful ourselves as we live out the faith delivered once for all to the saints.

Some traditions are weird, and many people think of traditions as all bad. So why does Paul talk about traditions as if they can be good?

And what kinds of works do we want God to establish us in?

How do good works play a role in our faith?

Let's learn from God's word and rest in God's grace as we ask him to establish us in every good work and word.
