Holland Deacons' Conference

Holland Deacons' Conference The Holland Deacons’ Conference (HDC) supports churches in their diaconal and community ministries. Jack Kooyman serves as Executive Director for HDC.

The Holland Deacons’ Conference (HDC) is the diaconal ministry of the Christian Reformed Church (CRC) for Classis Holland. HDC was formed and is owned by deacons of the CRC in Classis Holland. HDC has been and remains a catalyst for combining the resources of our churches to do what one church alone would not be able to do. HDC exists to encourage, support and equip deacons, church members and par

tners to collaborate in Christ-like acts of mercy, justice and compassion that transform lives and communities, reflecting and advancing God’s reign. Additionally, our work includes the management and operations of the 5 Adult Foster Care Homes, as well as support for Lakeshore Little People’s Place and board membership and community involvement with Buen Pastor. Have a question about our ministries? Contact or visit us.

Remember Dave? Dave has been a committed volunteer at the Community Kitchen for the past three and a half years! Our team recently had the joy of nominating him for the Ability Award through Disability Network, and he was selected as a finalist! This award is given to individuals that embrace leadership, advocacy, engagement & empowerment within the disability community - which is something Dave does each day! He helps train new volunteers that enter the Kitchen, has helped make the Kitchen a more welcoming space for folks of all abilities, and shares passionately about our services. Thank you, Dave, for all that you do for our staff, volunteers, guests, and community!

Holland and Ottawa County have a long history of welcoming refugees to our community. We are looking forward to learning about the needs and challenges facing refugees today and how we can welcome and show Christ's love to them as God's fellow image bearers.

Many Christians know they are called to "Welcome the Stranger" and to love their neighbor, but how do and can we do this today with new refugees and asylum seekers coming to our community? If you want to know and better understand this, you will want to read about the following upcoming opportunity.

If you want to better understand how you can support refugees and others who are new to our country, we encourage you to attend an upcoming immigration seminar at Providence Christian Reformed Church on the evening of March 23. Movement West Michigan is facilitating this seminar in partnership

Brothers & Sisters Homes will be the "Mission of the Month" for the month of May at B2 Outlet Stores. This will be at both of the Holland locations of B2: 1111 Washington Avenue and 12330 James Street. When customers make a purchase during the month of May, they will be asked if they want to "round up" their purchase to benefit Brothers and Sisters Homes.
