God is Good, All the Time! All the Time, God is Good!
What a blessing it was to worship on the lawn this morning with our friends and family from Oakland and Centerville. You cannot help but feel God's presence when worshiping outdoors in His creation. And that was the topic of Pastor Denise's message today - from Genesis 1 - God saw that the Light was good.
We always look forward to gathering at this time of year and holding this joint service with Centerville. There was a great crowd and LOTS of good food. If you weren't here you missed a special blessing. Thanks to everyone who came, helped prepare the food, got the church and grounds ready, and worked to make this a special day for everyone.
If you couldn't make it today, don't worry. We're open every Sunday and have plenty of seats - no long lines or waiting necessary. We truly would love to have you join us and experience the joys of simple, old-fashioned, relaxed worship.

Remember when congregations gathered on a summer Sunday, spread dinner on the ground under the shade trees, and enjoyed worship and fellowship together? Just reminding you that you can experience a throwback to those days when you join us this Sunday for our Lunch on the Lawn at 10:30. All are welcome. Bring a lawn chair and bring a friend. This is where you need to be this Sunday.

We hope to see you in the morning at the Memorial Day ceremony at Oakland Cemetery. This brief, meaningful program is sponsored by veterans groups in Faulkner County. They have taken the time to place flags at the graves of veterans in our cemetery. A moving rendition of TAPS is played each year by Hughie Craig in memory of those who died in our nation's service. If you are looking for a way to observe Memorial Day, take time to stop by at 8 tomorrow morning. We'd love to see you there.

If you've been looking for an event to attend in Holland, make plans now to join us for our annual Lunch on the Lawn, Sunday, May 31, at 10:30. We'll gather around the pavilion in the shade for worship and song then join in a traditional potluck "dinner on the grounds" (bring your favorite covered dish if you'd like). If you have never stopped by in the past, this would be an excellent opportunity for you to visit Oakland. Everyone is welcome and we would love to have you join us. Good Friends + Good Food + Good Fellowship = A Great Time! (In case of inclement weather, we'll move the event indoors.)

Today we celebrate the joy, hope, and new life found in the resurrection of Jesus. May this Easter fill your hearts with peace and renew your spirit with the promise of life and grace.

We rejoice with all our churches and communities as we proclaim the good news together!

Today we anticipate the joy of Easter morning. Come join us tomorrow as we celebrate the risen Christ. What better place to be than in the house of the Lord on Easter morning! There's a place waiting for you at Oakland UMC. We hope to see you there.

Today we pause to remember the depth of God’s love shown through Christ’s sacrifice. Good Friday invites us into reflection, gratitude, and reverence for the cross.

We encourage our churches and communities to take time today for prayer, worship, and quiet reflection as we journey toward the hope of Easter.

Every Sunday at Oakland is a blessing, but this morning was extra special. We celebrated with the Brown family as Holland and Joshua were baptized. We rejoiced in the baptism and enjoyed fellowship with friends and family afterward with a wonderful luncheon. Pastor Denise said it best in her weekly e-mail: "I pray we all have the zeal for our Lord as these two! I wish everyone could see how excited they are to help in church, taking up collections, escorting Mr. Ray to his truck, offering prayers, and ringing the bell. What blessings they are!" Amen!
