FAITHFULLY DEMONSTRATE THE LOVE OF CHRIST

VISION STATEMENT

We are called to be:
a united presbytery where...
• worship is central to our life

together
• we are spiritually grounded, and our spiritual energy is continually renewed
• everything we do is measured against our mission statement
• we speak the truth in love
• we share in each other's strengths
• we listen to, affirm, nurture and trust each other
• we pray for each other "without ceasing"
• we make decisions by consensus, with a minimum of bureaucracy
• we accept and include all people
• we move from a survival mentality to a service mentality, putting faithfulness to the gospel ahead of self-preservation

a presbytery witnessing to a transformed way of being
• learning, equipping, resourcing, communicating
• fostering understanding, in a multi-cultural society, and celebrating our own identity, our unity in diversity
• listening for the voice of Jesus in others different from ourselves
• becoming a learning community
• developing vital leadership that is faithful to the gospel
• upholding each congregation as a mission outpost
• understanding the Presbytery as “us” rather than “them”
• working creatively with neighboring presbyteries

a presbytery with a stronger voice for the disenfranchised...
• reaching out to the community without concern for membership and with a willingness to sacrifice for others
• speaking to issues of justice and advocating for change
• fostering a closer relationship with other faith communities
• serving ALL of God's people, including those who are homeless, hungry, isolated, and lonely
• working for environmental, economic, and social justice and peace, in our community and world

The Center for Public Justice is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 Preaching Reformed Fellowship
Deadline: June 15

The Preaching Reformed Fellowship exists for pastors who understand that justice and political discipleship matter but aren’t sure how their theology supports these efforts, how to step into the work of public witness, how to help their congregations develop a social imagination that includes caring for the whole world, or how any of that can be faithfully communicated in the pulpit. Preaching Reformed Fellowship is designed with the how questions in mind.
What does the fellowship include?
• Opening and closing retreats in Washington, DC
• A cohort of 15–20 pastors engaging shared challenges and questions
• Nine online webinars featuring practitioners, including voices from the global church and historically marginalized communities
• Monthly small group meetings (options include lectionary study, political theology, spiritual direction, or sermon coaching)
• One-on-one mentorship to develop a “proclamation project” (previous participants created sermons, series outlines, workshops, or written resources)

Pulpits can be politically contested places. Many people come to worship eager to hear if their pastor will reiterate their side’s latest political talking points and are ready to protest if they don’t. The result is that pastors are exhausted, weary of doing good, and even confused about what t...

In 2026, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) celebrates 70 years of women clergy.

Twenty years ago, the PC(USA) held anniversary events to celebrate the 50th year of the ordination of clergywomen, 100th anniversary of women deacons and the 75th anniversary of women elders. These events were a result of General Assembly action referred to the Women’s Ministries unit who were charged with planning these celebrations. Read more here: https://hubs.ly/Q048VGGg0
