Time is our most precious treasure. Both of my fine watches are over 100 years old: yet they are still ticking accurately. Amazing! Man can make something intricate and incredible, but he himself does not last as long as his creation. The Bible says, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of time…” Eph. 4:15. Everyday is a gift. It is a shame to waste it in worrying or resentment or even any fleeting feeling that takes energy from your heart. Thank you Jesus for today. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1st Thess. 5:18

Faithful friends finishing their day of retrieving: not my pals, but my grandsons’ dogs: June and Butter. Just as these are faithful to their masters, we too must be faithful in prayer. We have faithful members in the hospitals. Remember Betty Phillips and Carolyn Barlow, plus Eddie and Larry. Also Carolyn Blackburn as she continues her tests. This young great grandson is now college age. Calvin and I enjoy deep theological and philosophical chats as well as fountain pen interest as we also enjoy seeing each other’s collections. The point is, this photo was snapped years ago. Time flies and family is a gift of God. Jesus said, “Do not be anxious about tomorrow,” which is a way of saying “Treasure today.” Have you thanked the Lord today for this day? Or has life pressed in and stolen it from you? If that has happened, God’s gracious Spirit understands and is waiting for you. He loves you. Blessings.

Matthew 16:2

[2] He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ I hope your day has been fair weather recently. I made the decision after struggling over a week— not to retire from college and now I am sailing in fair weather. After the summer break, I began to dread returning to teach college, but I compromised - just cut my classes and shifted days so that I had long weekends. Also killed any early classes . So in a sense I have retired, but still teach a late morning class a couple days a week and am available if they need me. So still have my nice office and something to do and somewhere to go. Of course, I will never retire from my sweet church unless they ask me. Happy there!

I have pastored many wonderful Baptist Churches in my 60 years of ministry. Here are some in Georgia back in my early days of service as well as one in Missouri, plus the Baptist College where I got my first degree. Also included a picture of me baptizing Gillian, one of my grandchildren. I have been fortunate to baptize many of my grandkids, usually traveling to their home church for the occasion. Regardless of your church affiliation, I know as a believer that you, as well, cherish your Christian memories. God is good.
