Christ's Corner

Christ's Corner My name is Anna Green, and I am the editor of Christ's Corner Ministries. It was started by my dad, Dr. Walter D. (2 Timothy 3:16-17). (John 14:16-17, John 16:7).

Christ's Corner is a weekly article sent out through email and social media to spread the love of Christ and share the words inspired by the Holy Spirit about His scripture as far as it will reach. ** Please see more info ** This ministry was founded to be a weekly article sent out through Email to whomever would receive it. Hill, many years ago to give him a way to share the gospel since he was

unable to stand and preach due to his health. As the ministry grew, he also offered his weekly article to a variety of newspapers as a "filler" and from there this ministry went across the world. We are happy to know that our article reaches missionaries who share what the Holy Spirit has led on our hearts to write about, knowing it brings peace, comfort, and encouragement to those hearing it. Since the passing of my dad, my husband and I have worked to make Christ's Corner our own to share the word of God by continuing the weekly Email along with posting on other media. We believe that the bible is the inerrant word of God. That God is a living God who is three in one. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus was conceived by the work of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin being fully God and fully man, living a sinless life. We believe that Jesus was crucified and buried then arose again on the third day. We believe in the work of the Holy Spirit in the believer that He sanctifies, seals, fills, guides, instructs, comforts, equips, empowers, and permanently indwells at salvation. I state it this way because I believe it is important to know where you stand, and we have decided to stand unashamed in believing God and His word while keeping our eyes on Him. I will continue to seek Him and trust Him all the days of my life. Thank you and God bless.

This is an article from a few years back. But I loved it:

Happy Thanksgiving

Psalm 138:1-2 (ESV)

" I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word."

Today down here in the southern United States, we have been experiencing some winter weather that we are not used to having. The cold, wet snowy weather, along with wind and some rain has made for a day to stay in the house for most people. Personally, I am one who enjoys this type of weather. From my childhood, I have always enjoyed getting out in the snow, running around, sled riding, having snowball fights, and everything associated with snow.

You all may be asking “what does this have to do with the Scripture?” and I will tell you that I am thankful! Being thankful for the weather being in your favor may appear to be a small thing, nevertheless we are to be thankful for all things! King David is thanking the Lord in this psalm for His name, steadfast love (mercy in other translations), His faithfulness, and the exaltation of His name and word. The Lord has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness (2Pet.1:3-4). Therefore, we are to be thankful in the small things as well as the great.

I encourage you brothers and sisters in Messiah Jesus to condition your hearts with thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior. Take the time to reflect upon the seemingly small and overlooked things in our lives and give thanks to the Lord. Reflect upon the lessons learned through failures and struggles we have experienced and give thanks. Let’s take nothing for granted and give thanksgiving and praise to our God and Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

God Bless

Christ’s Corner - Moving Toward the Goal

Philippians 3:14 (ESV)
"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

There is an old saying that goes something like this: “Anything worth doing is hard and if it is not hard, then it is not worth doing”. I have found this saying is sometimes true and sometimes not. The call of God on our lives can be at times hard and at other times easy and smooth. When following the direction of the Lord, it seems as if nothing is happening, and it is in those times that the feelings of distress, frustration, doubt, and wanting to quit creep up.

We have become result driven as a society and it is often accompanied with the "microwave" lifestyle. Needing and wanting everything almost instantaneously. We are looking for our desired results and not God’s results. Our goal should be the prize that comes from God and his plan instead of whatever expectations we may formulate on our own. The Apostle Paul, in pressing toward God’s goal, did not see many of the results as they played out, but his focus was Jesus Christ. Not on his own results. He understood that he was God’s servant doing God’s assignment.

It is up to us to remember God’s goal and get in line with God’s assignment for our lives.

God Bless!

Jesus Will Still Be There

Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)
"It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Life can throw some tough circumstances and situations our way at the most inopportune times. Things that challenge us mentally as well as physically causing us to wonder “Where are you God?”. As believers our issues at times are overwhelming and hard to control, much less understand. We forget that this is a walk of faith. Trusting that God will honor His word. In those places, it is challenging as we wrestle with God’s promises and the situation in front of us.
God has promised in his word that he will not leave us or forsake us (Deut.31:6,8) and he has given us the Holy Spirit who is with us (Jhn.14:16-17). We must remember that whatever we are going through, no matter how hard or how good it is Jesus is with us. Jesus is our “very present help” (Ps.46:1) we only need to call out to him. Rather than seeking the problem, let’s seek Jesus in the middle of the problem, he will provide.

And We Should Too

John 11: 41-42 (KJV)
" ...Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
V.42 And I knew that thou hearest me always; but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me."

Christian folk seem to go from one extreme to the other. I have had people say they only pray when they are in a “closet” or alone with no one else there. Folks have also said they like to pray when they have others that listen to their prayers.
Jesus said we are to pray always, in a closet, or standing with a group of people. In this verse Jesus explains why he prayed aloud before a group of people.
Jesus was about to raise Lazarus from the grave, and he wanted the people there to believe that He, Jesus, was sent from GOD. Everything Jesus said or did was to bring glory and honor to GOD the Father.

Jesus is our example in every way.

Jesus prayed in the wilderness and we should too.
Jesus prayed in a garden and we should too.
Jesus prayed before other people and we should too!

Some folk don't pray because they don't want to embarrass anyone, they are ashamed, or just shy. Jesus said if we are ashamed of Him, he would be ashamed of us. Let's make Jesus proud by being a faithful witness. - The late Walter D.Hill D.Min

Restless Night

Matthew 24:42 (ESV)
"Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming."

We have all had nights where it seems sleep has left us; We toss and turn on our beds all night unable to get comfortable. Next thing you know, the alarm clock is going off and it’s time to get up. While the night seemed long the morning came quickly and a new day was here.

The nights of restlessness and when sleep seems to escape us reminds me of the coming of our Lord Jesus. There is a restlessness in creation just before his return. Brothers and sisters, we are in those times of restlessness. The anticipation of his coming is felt within the body of Christ and in the world. It is during these times that our Lord warned us to stay awake, not to give in to a state of slumber. Let our rest be in him and watch and pray in anticipation of his glorious return.

God bless!

Let’s Rise Up

Philippians 3:14 (ESV) "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

It is easy to become complacent and distracted with all that's going on. Politics and various conspiracy theories, deception and violence are prominent over the air waves. It seems that everywhere you turn something is reaching for our attention to pull us away from God.

There have been times that I was so overwhelmed that I just did not do anything. I did not pray. I did not read my Bible. I became complacent and passive, saying to myself, “this is just the way it is going to be”. I had to wake up and rise up! My god is bigger and greater than all, and the plan he has for me, and all his people is to be light in the darkness. It may seem pointless; however, it is not! We have an upward call of God on our lives, and it is time to rise up and press on!

Praise The Lord, Oh My Soul

Psalm 146:1–2 (ESV)
"Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being."

The other day while at work, I was going through my daily routine of building orders thinking about the other issues going on in my life. Suddenly, I got the urge to stop and just praise the Lord. So, I stopped and praised the Lord, thanking Him for the small as well as greater things He has done in my life, for my family and friends, and this country. I found myself thanking and praising Him for things I have never thought of.

This lasted about fifteen minutes and afterward the day seemed to be a bit brighter, although work was still hard and the problems I was facing were still there, I had hope, my faith was charged, and I was ready to take the day on because I knew I was not alone. The prevailing thought throughout that day was, “sometimes you gotta stop and just praise the LORD” no matter what you are doing. Times are tough and life has its issues, however, Jesus is still king, God is in control, and He is worthy of our praise. We echo that thought and encourage you all to stop sometimes and just praise the LORD!

Spiritual Warfare

Isaiah 43:2 (KJV)
“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”

As believers and followers of Christ, obeying the Lord and following His plans, we are promised many things. Walking a path of righteousness is not an easy lifestyle. We are faced with tainted pasts, bad decisions, weaknesses, and mistakes in addition to an adversary that is patient and waits for any chance to kill still and destroy (John 10:10).

Each day I am haunted by mistakes I’ve made in my past and Satan tries to call me those by name, but I am so thankful that I have learned I am not those things anymore. Once you ask forgiveness and repent, I trust the Word when it says I have been forgiven through Christ (Isaiah 1:18, Ephesians 1:7). So even though the fact is that I did those bad things, said those bad things, or even condoned those bad things, I have security in knowing that when the adversary comes that I am not alone.

There will be times when consequences of our actions come back to bite us in the tail, or the Spiritual warfare becomes overwhelming, we are not alone! We have a strong tower to guard us, a loving Father to be with us, and the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Declare His Name

Isaiah 43:10 (ESV)
“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me."

The nation of Israel was and are witnesses to the power and glory of God. From the deliverance from Egyptian bo***ge to their conquering of the promised land by the hand of God. God raised them up as a powerful monarchy through King Saul, David, and Solomon, and even in their exile from the land because of their disobedience, God was still showing himself mighty in their midst.

Today amidst the turmoil and political theater playing out before our eyes, we are witnesses to God’s glory among us. Now is the time to declare loudly the lordship of Jesus Christ! We are his servants whom he has chosen (Isa.43:10) by giving his life and calling us by his grace. We have seen that the Lord is good. We have seen the miracles he has done in our lives. He has set us free from sin, sickness, and death. He is God, God almighty, and worthy to be praised!

Independence Day

Galatians 5:1 (ESV)
"For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."

This weekend we celebrated the independence of our nation, also known as the birthday of our nation. The Fourth of July, Independence Day. On July 4th of 1776 America gained her independence from the British. For the past 245 years we, as a nation, have been celebrating our freedom. God has given this nation a sovereignty that has gone unmatched since its inception. Because of this, the United States of America has been the leader of the free world since its beginning. In the Pledge of Allegiance it reads, “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. Living in a free country, for most of us, all of our lives we tend to take those freedoms for granted. This day of celebration is a reminder. A reminder of those freedoms and the lives lost to protect them.

As individuals, we have been enslaved to the power of sin. We have given ourselves over to emotional bo***ges, financial distress, various addictions and other things that have taken an unhealthy hold of our lives. Throughout the Bible, however, God has determined to set His people free! FREE from oppression, FREEDOM from the clutches of sin, FREE from sickness and disease,FREEDOM from the ways of the world! In our verse today, it says “for FREEDOM Christ has set us free”. Jesus has brought freedom to us! We are not to be in bo***ge to anything! It is, however, your choice to accept that freedom and to stand in that freedom. The freedom Christ gave us in Him is to be celebrated and proclaimed! We have a tendency to entangle ourselves in other things to get that sense of freedom, but in truth, we become enslaved to the other. When we come to Jesus, though, we are truly set free (John 8:36: So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed).

As we celebrate with bbq’s, pool parties, having family time and the great freedoms we enjoy, let’s remember. - Let us remember what God has given us to be free. Let us not take for granted our freedoms. Remember Jesus and the price He paid for our freedom. Jesus gave His life for us to be free; Free from sin, addictions, oppression, and freedom to draw close to God the Father at any time. Let us remember the most important freedom of all. The freedom to love. Share love with your family, friends, and even that stranger you pass. Share the love of God with all you come in contact with. The freedom to love is what builds a strong community in spite of differences.

We at Christ’s Corner wish you and your family a Happy Fourth of July!

We are praying for you, pray for us also!
