As the Central Territory prepares this week for Commissioning Weekend with the theme "Revival", would you pray this BIG & BOLD prayer with us?

Oh Lord, “Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you?” Psalm 85:6 (NLT)

Samuel Logan Brengle writes in The Guest of the Soul, “In the lonely and still night, while others sleep, He stirs some soul to sighs and tears and strong cryings and wrestling prayer. He kindles utter, deathless devotion in that soul, a consuming jealousy for God’s glory, for the salvation of men, for the coming of the kingdom of God; and in that lonely and still night and out of that travail, that agony of spirit, mingled with solemn joy, a revival is born.”

There are two Hebrew ways to indicate to another person you are present (here). One is “poh,” a general term. ...

On this last Sunday of the month, we collectively and boldly pray from The Common Book of Prayer:

“Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.”

St. Ignatius Loyola, helps us with this personal BIG & BOLD prayer:
“Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my
understanding, and my entire will, all I have and call my own.
You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.” Amen.

Let's join A. W. Tozer in his Bold prayer, asking God to help us recognize the eternal in our day to day living:

“O God, quicken to life every power within me, that I may lay hold on eternal things. Open my eyes that I may see; give me acute spiritual perception; enable me to taste Thee and know that Thou art good. Make heaven more real to me than any earthly thing has ever been. Amen.”

Today, as we recognize Mother's Day, hear the prayer of A. W. Tozer:

“Lord, teach me to listen. The times are noisy and my ears are weary with the thousand raucous sounds which continuously assault them. Give me the spirit of the boy Samuel when he said to Thee, ‘Speak, for thy servant heareth.’

Let me hear Thee speaking in my heart. Let me get used to the sound of Thy voice, that its tones may be familiar when the sounds of the earth die away and the only sound will be the music of Thy speaking voice. Amen.”

As we begin this new month of May, Thomas ả Kempis offers
this BIG & BOLD prayer:

“Grant me, O Lord, to know what is worth knowing,
to love what is worth loving,
to praise what delights you most,
to value what is precious in your sight,
to hate what is offensive to you.
Do not let me judge by what I see,
nor pass sentence according to what I hear,
but to judge rightly between things that differ,
and above all to search out and to do what pleases you,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Amen

The beginning of Reinhold Niebuhr's prayer is very familiar to us.
Do you know the rest? Let us pray:

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things
I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.

Taking as he did, this sinful world as it is
Not as I would have it.

Trusting that he will make all things right
If I surrender to His will.

That I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.” Amen.

Queen Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland (1542-1587) offers our
BIG & BOLD prayer for today:

“Keep us, O God, from all pettiness,
Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with faultfinding and leave off all self-seeking.
May we put away all pretense and meet each other
Face to face, without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment,
And always generous.

Let us always take time for all things,
And make us grow calm, serene and gentle.
Teach us to put into action our better impulses,
To be straightforward and unafraid.

Grant that we may realize
That it is the little things of life that create differences,
That in the big things of life we are as one.
And, O Lord God, let us not forget to be kind!” Amen.
