We Believe…

In the Holy Christian Bible (both Old & New Testaments) as the Divine inspired inerrant Word of God, the revelation of His mind and will to man, our infallible, all sufficient guide for salvation and for Christian life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21). In one God, the Creator of all, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is true God and true man begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and that He has a perfect and sinless humanity (John 1:1; Philippians 2:6; Matthew 1-23-25; 1John 3:5). In the total depravity of the nature of man through his fall in the Garden of Eden, and the absolute inability of man to save himself from eternal punishment by his own works (Genesis 3; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9). In the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved (1Thess. 4:17); and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost (Rev. 20:11-15). In the finished work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary, through which sacrifice Christ has effected complete and eternal redemption, God setting His seal of approval on the work of Christ by raising Him from among the dead, enthroned Him at His own right hand in Heaven and that He is the Head of the Church, the Lord of the individual, the High Priest over the House of God and Advocate in the family of God. In the immediate and eternal salvation of every person who truly believes on Christ and by faith rests on His finished work as the only righteous ground on which a Holy God can forgive his sins. That all who by faith receive the Lord Jesus Christ as savior are born again of the Holy Spirit, indwelt by the Holy Spirit and by the Holy Spirit baptized into the body of Christ, the Church, of which He is the risen and ascended Head (1Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18). That the early Church met together and “continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42). – God’s pattern for the Church today. In the personal, imminent, and premillennial coming of the Lord to the air to Rapture (catch up) the Church (1Thess. 4:13-17), and

In the revelation of Christ in glory at His Second Advent to the earth to establish His kingdom on earth and to reign in righteousness (2Thess. 1:6-10; Phil. 2:9-11).

“Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom;
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27‬:‭50‬-‭51‬ ‭

There are so many things in life that we don’t have access to. We see signs that read, “No admittance.” “Employees only.” “Don’t go past this point.” No access. That is precisely the way it was with God in the days before Jesus. In the Temple, a veil separated the people from God and served as a barrier that only the high priest could enter — and then only once a year. But when Jesus was crucified, the ground shook and the veil of the temple that kept everyone out of the Holy of Holies was torn in two. From the bottom to the top? No. From the top to the bottom. Only God could do that. Jesus’ death provided our way of access to God. The writer of Hebrews says that because of the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf, we can come with confidence to the throne of grace, where we receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Thank Him for the assurance we have that we may enter His presence any time, anywhere, and in any circumstance.

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬ ‭

“But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.”
‭‭James‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ ‭

When I was a child, our family doctor made house calls. I can still picture Dr. Gatlin entering my room with his black bag. He would first listen to my heart and then take a wooden tongue depressor, tell me to open wide, stick out my tongue and say “Aaaah.” Not only does the tongue help reveal our physical ailments, it also helps diagnose our spiritual condition. That’s because the tongue is a messenger of the heart and can only deliver the message it is given.
Jesus said, “the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.” In fact, nothing reveals what’s in our hearts as accurately as our tongues. So open wide and say
“Aaaah.” What is your tongue saying about the condition of your heart?

“Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12‬:‭34‬ ‭

Problem solved!

We have a problem. God is holy; He’s “the just.” We are unholy; we are “the unjust.” How could God, who is holy, punish sin and love the sinner at the same time? That’s the problem that was solved by Calvary. God was, in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself. Here, the doctor not only makes a house call, leaves Heaven, and comes to Earth, but the doctor Himself makes the patient well by taking the patient’s sickness. He dies: “the just for the unjust.” The judge not only adjudicates the criminal guilty, but also steps from behind the bench, stands in the place of the accused, and takes the punishment upon Himself. You’ll never understand the cross until you understand the principle of substitution. Jesus Christ died for us.

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭

People have been trying to justify their actions and attitudes ever since sin came into the world. When God confronted Adam and Eve with their sin, they both admitted they had eaten the one fruit He had told them not to eat. But they each took the opportunity to add a bit of justification. Adam explained, “She gave it to me!” And Eve defended herself with, “The serpent lied to me!” Both of them had done what was right in their own eyes, and both of their defenses fell flat because the Lord knew what was in their hearts. We’re pretty good at justifying ourselves, too. We can usually come up with what seems like a good reason for what we’ve done or want to do. That’s why we need to stay humble and stay close to the Lord. That’s why we need to actively seek the leadership of the Holy Spirit and lean into His guidance. We may be convinced of the rightness of our actions and attitudes, but the Lord judges our hearts according to His own holy standard.

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21‬:‭2‬ ‭

God created us to be comfortable in our own skin. In spiritual terms, humans are designed to experience peace, joy, and contentment. But many people go through life feeling fragmented and empty. In John 4:7-30 .Jesus talked with a Samaritan woman who was clearly feeling incomplete and disillusioned with the way her life had turned out. Attempting to fill her soul with human love, she’d experienced many heartbreaking relationships and was presently involved in a sinful one. This woman had dipped her “bucket” repeatedly into the well of human love to get the acceptance that she hoped would make her whole. But each experience left her thirsty. Standing before Jesus, she was a broken soul and social outcast. People throughout history have been drinking from false wells. The truth is that only a relationship with Jesus can make a person whole. From Him comes living water that quenches our thirst forever (John 7:37-38 . This means He meets our every need in this life. In a world marred by sin, we will not have a perfect existence, but through Christ, we can expect to live with a sense of deep and lasting satisfaction.

“On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’””
‭‭John‬ ‭7‬:‭37‬-‭38‬ ‭

Thanks to Calvin Fritchey for sharing this truth with us.

Jesus was a carpenter, so it is possible that He knew how to build a house. If so He would know that a house had to have a solid foundation, so it would stand when the storms came. Jesus would also know that building a life is like building a house.
If you build your life on the Rock of Jesus Christ, with Him as your foundation, and according to His principles, when storms, stress and tribulation come – and they will come – your life will stand - in this world and through all eternity.
Take some time and examine your life and see if it’s storm ready.

““Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭

When Jesus was asked to identify the greatest commandment, he replied, “Love the Lord Thy God … and love thy neighbor as thyself.” Jesus was declaring that this summarizes the Ten Commandments. Love God with everything covers the first four commandments, and “love your neighbor” covers the last six. But did you know there are actually eleven commandments? Jesus gave His disciples a new commandment, to “love one another as I have loved you.” That is love in action. There are 35 “one another” instructions in Scripture. Love one another, be devoted to one another, rejoice with one another, live in harmony with one another, be kind to one another, forgive one another … and that’s just a few of them. Love in action. When we are “in Christ,” we become part of the “one another” business. So let me ask you, “How’s business?”

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.””
‭‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭34‬-‭35‬ ‭

“Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭7‬:‭5‬ ‭

A group of religious leaders had traveled from Jerusalem to hear Jesus teach (Matthew 14:34–36), but their chief purpose was not spiritual. They weren’t interested in His views on the Kingdom of God. Instead, they wanted to know why Jesus’ disciples were not observing their ritual of washing their hands before they ate (Matthew 15:1–2). Jesus challenged their obsession with tradition over their lack of concern for their spiritual condition. My twenty-first century interpretation of His rebuke is "Don’t choose tradition over truth." Don’t prefer familiar over faithfulness. And don’t trade your future for man-made rule-following. Let’s maintain sight of the fact that we are the people of God. While our traditions may be familiar and comfortable, they are just that: traditions. Our priority is to submit to the authority of our Lord and King.

“When He had called all the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear Me, everyone, and understand: There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭

We expect a quick return on our investments. We go online to see if the money we have invested has increased in value that day. We do something nice and expect the recipients to express their gratitude. We make an investment in God’s Kingdom and expect to see immediate results. But the rewards we receive from God are not like that. He expects us to give Him our best every day, and He will give us His best in return. But our reward will not always come in the moment—or even in that day, month, or year. We need to approach our spiritual service thinking, I’m going to give You my best today, Lord. And if I don’t see a return on this until eternity, I’ll still keep giving You my best. So, let’s stop checking our spiritual mailboxes to see if a reward is there. God delights in blessing His people, and He will reward us in His own time—whether that’s today or in eternity.

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭

God’s people have always had responsibilities in the world, and those responsibilities have always come with challenges. When Noah began gathering the necessary materials to build a massive boat, he knew his neighbors would question and mock him every day until the rain began to fall. When Moses walked into Pharaoh’s palace and said, “Let my people go,” he understood this would turn out to be more than a theoretical discussion about the right of Pharaoh to hold people in slavery. When Samuel went to Jesse’s home and said, “I’m here to anoint one of your sons,” I’m not sure David had any idea just how challenging his path would be. As Christians, we have responsibilities in our generation, and I guarantee they will be challenging. We’ll be called to deny our own desires and plans. We’ll be called to be salt and light. Following Jesus well will take tremendous courage, but that is exactly what we are called to do.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭24‬ ‭
