House of Prayer Lutheran Church

House of Prayer Lutheran Church It has kept us on track for all these years and has opened us to all folks and guides us in our mission in God's loved world.

"My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples" - Isaiah 56:7

This verse is the one our congregation united around back when we were first founded. Our mission statement is: To share and spread Christ's message of love. To nurture a vigorous and compassionate Church family - open to all. To provide meaningful worship and Christian education. And to actively reach out to help and serv

e others. All are welcome to join us in worship, in service, in education, in making music, and in fellowship. House of Prayer is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Though Jesus was a devout Jew who practiced his faith, he was criticized for eating with tax collectors and sinners - the religiously nonobservant. Jesus criticizes the self-righteous and reminds us that mercy is to be at the heart of our religious practices. God continues to be made known in those on the margins of society, like Matthew the tax collector and the hemorrhaging woman. As we gather each Lord's day we receive the healing that makes us well and sends us forth to be signs of God's mercy for the world.

We've made great progress on our furnace fund. We're almost half way there but still have half to go. Can you help out??

Though the word 'trinity' is not found in the scriptures, today's second reading includes the apostolic greeting that begins the liturgy. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In the gospel Jesus sends his disciples forth to baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. More than a doctrine, the Trinity expresses the heart of our faith: we have experienced the God of creation made known in Jesus Christ and with us always through the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity in word and sacrament, as
we profess the creed, and as we are sent into the world to bear witness to our faith.

This weekend is PENTECOST. Feel free to wear RED and to speak another language. (really! Just like everyone speaking in different tongues in the lessons)

After the service, we'll be planting the geraniums that were decorating the inside of the church outside along the walkway. (there's still time to purchase one if you didn't before-$8/pot)

Be ready to get a little dirty, and bring a trowel and watering can!
