“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.” Revelation 20:1-3 (NKJV)

What is the bottomless pit, where is it, and why is it there? Why is the Evil One called the Dragon, Serpent of Old, the Devil, and Satan? What is the chief purpose of the Wicked One? How will the reign of King Jesus look different?

“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:9-12 (NKJV)

How is history defined? Who were Nebuchadnezzar and the Apostle Paul? Did they share their histories or testimonies with others? Why are believers’ testimonies so important? What 3 reasons does Acts give us to share our salvation stories?

“Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation. 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:5-8 (NKJV)

What three broad ages or dispensations were mentioned today? Were tithes mandated by God in the Patriarchal age? About how much of their annual income did Israel give to their government? What two types of giving are consistently taught through scripture? In what two ways are Christians told to support the Church? What happens when you become a cheerful giver as Paul describes?

In most Churches there are believers that attend, but don’t really get involved or even know how. Some can’t physically do what they used to, while others are simply unaware of the opportunities. For the next few weeks, we’ll be investigating what the Bible has to say about four primary areas of giving. Are you doing what the Lord requires? Are there areas, where you can get involved? Is giving just about money?

The past couple of days have been difficult, to say the least. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost and power, and some have even lost their homes. In Hinesville and the surrounding areas, many are without electricity and just trying to figure out how to get through the next few days. As far as our Church body is concerned, we fared well. I haven’t heard any reports of people losing their homes, or more importantly, their lives. Folks, I don’t know what the next couple days will hold for you, but I do know that God is good and we will be worshiping Him tomorrow at First Baptist Church Hinesville. Yes, we have power and air conditioning. If you need a cool place to sit, we hope to see you tomorrow in Sunday School and Church.

To the Chief Musician. Set to ‘Do Not Destroy.’ A Psalm of Asaph. A song. We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near. 2 "When I choose the proper time, I will judge uprightly. 3 The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved; I set up its pillars firmly. Selah” Psalm 75:1-3 (NKJV)

Why are the wonderous works of the Lord mentioned? What do they tell His people? How does Yahweh judge everything and everyone? Why does the Psalmist say that the earth and its inhabitants will be dissolved?

“So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. 26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” James 1:19-27 (NKJV)

Can Christians do outwardly righteous acts that are displeasing to God? How is a hearer of the word only like a man who looks in the mirror? How does James view religion with an unbridled tongue?

According to verse 19, what general approach should we take when dealing with others? What will the wrath of man never be able to do? What must we lay aside to receive the righteousness of God? What is the implanted word? Who really can’t be a doer of the word? How are they deceiving themselves?

James 1:16-18 says, “Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.”

Why did Jame think his brethren would be deceived? Why do good and perfect gifts come from the Father of lights? What two elements must be in place for a person to be saved? Why are believers called firstfruits of the Father’s creation?

At the Judgment of the Sheep and Goats, after the redeemed of the Tribulation are blessed, Jesus will then say these words to those who’ve rejected Him, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' 44 Then they also will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' 45 Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25:41-46 (NKJV)

In what two ways will the lost be cursed? Why is the fire everlasting? If the Lake of Fire was prepared for the Devil and his angels, what does that tell us? Will people enter the Lake of Fire for big sins or little sins? What does God think about how the world treats His family? Who does He show preference to?

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40 And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:31-40 (NKJV)

Why did Jesus tell His disciples about the Judgment of the Sheep and Goats? Where will the Lord sit when He returns? Who will gather the people before judgment? Why will the Great Shepherd divide the people like sheep from goats? Is this passage an evangelistic one? Should it be used that way?
