United Church of Hinesburg We are a federated church at the center of Hinesburg, VT proclaiming that no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.

The United Church of Hinesburg is a federated church at the heart of Hinesburg, Vermont with ties to the American Baptist, United Church of Christ and United Methodist denominations. In 1919 the three denominations merged "in view of the desirability of having one strong Protestant church in Hinesburg which shall serve the entire community" (This wording is taken from the original contract. In 201

1, the UCH voted to become an Open and Affirming congregation in the United Church of Christ. At the same time, it was also designated as Welcoming and Affirming in the American Baptist Church and a Reconciling Congregation in the United Methodist Church. Today, UCH focuses on word and sacrament, hunger alleviation and food security. As a united church with people from many different faith traditions, UCH daily lives out the prayer of Jesus, “That they may all be one.”

Eight churches in our area are gathering at The First Congregational Church of Essex Junction for an ecumenical Good Friday service at 12:00 pm on April 3rd. The service is shaping up to be creative, inspiring, and full of divergent views of what is Good about Good Friday as reflected in the seven last words of Jesus.

Faith communities participating in the service include the UCC Churches in Jeffersonville, Charlotte, St. Albans, Hinesburg, South Hero, and Burlington as well at First Baptist in Burlington. The service will be at 12 noon with a meal to follow.

Little Free Meals, free simple soup and sandwich meals (eat-in or take-out) offered from 5:30 to 7:00 on the second and fourth Fridays of the month, are scheduled through April. The next meal will be held this Friday, February 27th. All are welcome!
