Astounding Grace recently suffered the loss of a beloved member of our church family, Allan Barber. Our love and prayers continue to be with Linda and all of his family. Allan will be greatly missed, but we rejoice for him as the scripture promises us that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). A memorial service will be held at 10:00 on Friday, August 14, at Madison County Funeral Service in Hindsville, AR.

Allan Wayne Barber, 70, of Goshen, Arkansas, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, at his home. He was born July 22, 1956, in Searcy, Arkansas, to Winfred and Billie (Combs) Barber.
Allan was well-known all over Washington and Madison County for umpiring summer baseball and softball and referring pee-wee basketball games. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for over twenty years between Elkins and Goshen Fire Departments. Allan worked for many years for Campbell’s Soup. He loved helping his community. Allan also loved to be out on the lake in his boat fishing for Crappie. He will be missed by many across Washington and Madison Counties.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lewis and Justin Barber. Survivors include his wife of eighteen years, Linda Barber of Goshen; his son, Jason (Virginia) Barber of Witter; his daughter, Stacy Barber of Fayetteville; his stepdaughter, April (Charlie) Thompson of Wesley; his stepson, Buddy (Michelle) Hinson of Bergman; his sisters: Janet (Harlan) Mott, Dianna Burbank, Carla Firm and Margie Malonee; his brother, Ronald; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2026, at Madison County Funeral Service Chapel in Hindsville, Arkansas, with Gary Digby officiating.
