I teach a class of orphan children in Kisii, Kenya, every Saturday for an hour. They send me questions on Bible themes and issues on Thursday, and we study the Bible together on Saturday. Parma Christian Fellowship Church purchased 100 Bibles four years ago, so the children and pastors of the area had complete Bibles to read and study, in their language of Ekegusii.
We purchased those Bible online, and they came to Matagaro Pentecostal Church and Orphanage from North Korea! They have lasted four years, but are literally falling apart. The covers for almost all of them are gone. The spines are splitting. The pages are coming out and getting lost or torn.
In talking with Pastor Douglas during class today, I discovered that local bookstores in Kisii City have Bibles in Ekegusii, with a hard cover and better spine, for $10 each. We can raise and send just $1000 to buy new BIbles locally in Kisii. Pastors Douglas and Vincent (our other translator) can take some of the children to make the purchase and bring the Bibles back to the orphanage.
This will help the church and orphanage build local relationships with the businesses and provide an opportunity for the children to learn about the economics of making purchases locally.

Hopefully, we can send the money Monday or Tuesday. The children cheered when I said we could get them new Bibles. Literally: cheered!
We send $300 every month on the 15th for food and nutrition. We have sent money for personal clothing and footballs (soccer balls.) Your regular contributions of just a few dollars from many of us helps immensely. The pictures are just a few of this week's readers. Every week, different kids read the passages to their peers, learning how to read well and speak well.
