Ash Wednesday Worship Service
February 18, 2026, 6:00 PM

Mount Zion UMC will enter into the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday, February 18. We will learn how love, what to love, what to hold on to, and what to let go of during this holy season.

We reaffirm our longstanding commitment to the sacred worth of every person and to the way of peace taught and embodied by Jesus. We stand against the separation of children from their families. We detest the inhumane, evil actions that are perpetuated by governmental authorities.

Mount Zion UMC had a beautiful Candlelight Service during the season of Advent last Sunday. Henri Nouwen, a Dutch-born Catholic priest and professor, wrote,

“The Lord is coming, always coming. When you have ears to hear and eyes to see, you will recognize him at any moment of your life. Life is Advent; life is recognizing the coming of the Lord.”

During this Candlelight Service, we prayed for renewed hearts—hearts that can see the Lord who is always coming toward us, and ears that can hear God’s voice again. In this season of new beginnings for our church, we give thanks for a worship experience filled with quiet prayer, warm fellowship, and holy light.

Join us for a beautiful evening of fellowship and worship!

In this season of Advent, we gather to welcome the Light that shines in the darkness. Our Candlelight Service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
Potluck fellowship begins at 5:30 PM, followed by our candlelight service at 7:00 PM.

We hope to celebrate this special night with you.

Mt. Zion - Food Bank Donations

Mt. Zion UMC is looking for donations of non-perishable goods for our monthly Somerset Food Pantry Drop-Off. As the winter and holiday season is setting in and with shortages of SNAP benefits, many families in Somerset County are frequenting food pantries more often, desperately in need of food. One of the greatest ways our Church can help is by contributing the vital items and food the pantry is seeking. As a small but mighty Church and as a mission from Jesus to help feed the hungry and poor, let us contribute to this cause together.

Our Church will be collecting non-perishable food items and personal care products. Please drop off all donations at the front of the Church. We will be doing multiple trips to the Food Bank during November, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
