The Life Forest community never ceases to amaze me. So thankful for the opportunity to attend an open air Death Cafe at our partner site Life Forest Whistle Ridge. To feel safe to speak and to be truly heard in a circle of trust felt like a warm blanket after a week of struggling with grief.

Did you miss last months livestream of Life Forest's, "Beyond the Forest Floor"?

Last month we spoke to Kelly, President of The Life Forest of Hillsborough nonprofit as well as owner of Lois' Natural Marketplace. We sat together and talked casually about the application of "Gift Economy", both in deathcare and in food insecurity.

You can view that episode via the link below!

These conversations are unscripted, casual, live and absent of any AI. We are not fancy, but we are human and we hope you are inspired to incorporate Gift Economy into your lives as well :)

Ten years ago today, my mother Elise was set free from her horrific disease, frontal lobe dementia. This heartbreaking life experience triggered a grief-to-action response, and Life Forest was born and has formed into a reflection of love, kindness, and support of others that emulates exactly how my mother lived.

Life Forest surrounds me with friendship, laughter, purpose, and hope. At first I thought that I created Life Forest to honor my mother, but through the years I have realized that my mother created Life Forest for me and for all those who grieve, so we do not need to ever be alone.

I would be so grateful if you watched the video until the very end, so you too can see her smile again.

Life Forest provides burial options for both people and beloved pets.

Depending on the cemetery location and selected burial space, families may arrange for the burial of human cremated remains and pet cremated remains.

This allows families to choose a permanent resting place that reflects their values, relationships and connection to the natural world.

At Life Forest in our Cardinal Crossing burial area today, Mike our Cemetery Land Manager pointed out this beautiful Forest wildflower!

According to bluethumb.org, this is a “Bottle Gentian. A beautiful, slow-growing, native, perennial herb that is usually 1-2' tall. It has maroon to bronze fall color. A wonderful perennial for perennial gardens, rain gardens and rock gardens. It is used in restorations of prairies, wet meadows, lake edges, calcareous situations and ditches where it will be provided with enough sun the first growing season. It can be hard to establish in areas with significant competition.”

Thank you Life Forest for a pretty moment and a nice learning experience!
