SEA Mission Bahamas

SEA Mission Bahamas Service, Evangelism, Assistance. S.E.A. Mission. We are a religious non-profit organization. SEA Mission began that summer.. Even better, the islanders love VBS.

Mission (Service, Evangelism, Assistance) was founded in the mid 90s, by Dr. Denton Sumrall and his wife, Carol. After a boating vacation to the Islands of the Bahamas, Dr. Sumrall and Carol saw the need for a specific Mission dedicated to the people of the Bahamas. They visited the outlying settlements on Grand Bahama and the Abaco Islands and immediately established a bond with the local Pastors

.. After speaking to a church in N Florida about his trip and vision of establishing a Mission program to the Islands, he was approached and asked if he would assist their church in taking a Team to conduct summer VBS on the Island. We assist mission teams to Grand Bahama Island to conduct vacation Bible schools, construction projects, and sports camps. Many churches and groups have found that a vacation Bible school or construction project in the Bahamas is the ideal destination for an initial foreign mission trip. We often refer to it as Foreign Missions 101. The language is English, the crime rate is almost nil, the people are friendly and hospitable, the water is safe to drink, and medical care is readily available. Mission has continued to serve the Bahamas and their communities by participating in the Summer VBS programs and assisting in several building and repair projects for over 20 years.

A little update for 2023…. Now that the Pandemic has passed, it’s time for S.E.A. Mission to initiate our return to the Mission field.
We have shifted our base of operations from the Orchard Church up to FBC Boulougne. As a point of interest, FBC Boulougne was the very first church to go into the Bahamian mission field with us.

Due to his busier than ever schedule and the addition of another campus to the Orchard Family, Bro. Eddie is having to scale back his participation as the leader of S.E.A. Mission. He will continue to serve as an active Board Member and will always be an invaluable asset.

Bro. Paul Lucas, Pastor of FBC Boulougne, will officially assume the position of President in 2024. Along with his wife, Tracy, they will be guiding us into a new season in the Mission field.

Bro. Eddie & Bro. Paul will continue working together thru this year to make the transition as easy as possible.

We are planning for this summer’s VBS mission trips for the last week of June thru the first week of July.

Please pray for us as we move forward to keep Dr. Sumrall’s vision of Service, Evangelism and Assistance to the Caribbean Islands.
