I love that no matter what season of life we are in, we have a God who meets us. And when He meets us, it is not just a lighthearted "Hey! I see you..." but when He meets us...

He shields us
He speaks truth to us
He strengthens us
He gathers us under the shadow of His wings
He gives to us what we are lacking for that particular season
and then
He sings over us out of a heart full of love!

THAT encourages my heart!

I love the account of Joseph, one of my favorite accounts in the Bible...I love the truth that God uses "pits" to position us, to humble us, to change us...and that in the midst of all the turns in Joseph's life, God had a good and sovereign plan!

I wonder if you could point to something in your life that's almost taken you out or is about to take you out. It has you on a stretcher halfway to the grave.

The message of the gospel is that Jesus loves to interrupt funerals. In Jesus' hands, He turns stretchers into worship celebrations. He grabs hold of your stretcher and tells you to live again.

"Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you." // Ephesians 5:14

God wants to touch your life and use your life to raise up hope for your generation. It's time to let Jesus shine His light of truth and mercy and grace and healing on you. It's time for you to get off your stretcher and walk. It may be that the people who knew you best will stare at you in astonishment and exclaim, "What happened to you?" because they can't believe it.

Jesus' message is that there isn't going to be a funeral today. He's the God of the comeback. Let Him touch you and heal you and turn your life around. And even if you're experiencing a kind of loss that's pragmatically impossible to come back from, you'll still find that Jesus is enough.

Spent some time this morning, looking toward the cross...
