We never tire of people sharing their delight when visiting, for the first time, the monument for Naomi Miller-Dawson, which bears the recipe for her family-favorite Spritz Cookie. Many have baked them at home and reported that, indeed, it’s a recipe worthy of memorializing!

Sunday, August 27th, come enjoy the Dutchess Fair Highland Games brought to you by the Northeast Highlanders. This is a Free event with paid admission to the Fair! 11:00 am - 6:00 pm.
Men and women will compete in a variety of events including:
-Stone toss- (modern day shot)
-Weights for Distance- Athletes grasp a handle and throw what looks like a ball and chain
-Caber Toss- The signature event of the Highland games, most people know this event as ‘the one where they throw the telephone pole’.
-Sheaf toss- A large burlap sack filled with twine rope which is thrown using a pitchfork over a bar (like pole vault in track)
-Weight over bar- a 56lb weight for men and 28 for women, is swung between the legs and thrown over head over a bar.
This is sure to be an exciting day of contests!!
