Restoration Movements: Week 1 — Unity

On Sunday, Aaron kicked off our new series on the Restoration Movements. Throughout the series, we’ll explore unity, authority, simplicity, and liberty and charity.

This week’s focus was unity and one of the foundational ideas of the Restoration Movement: “We are not the only Christians; we are Christians only.”

Looking at Mark 9:38–41, Acts 11:19–26, John 13:35, and Acts 4:32, Aaron challenged us to think about what identifies us as Christians. It is our faith in Jesus—not membership in a particular denomination or congregation—that makes us Christians.

He also asked us to reflect:

Do people know that we are Christians?
What do people say about us?
Can people catch a glimpse of Jesus through us?
How loving are we?
How do we view Christians outside our own church?
Are we willing to work alongside other churches?

This was such a big hit last year that we’re bringing it back again!

Tomorrow is a busy day of fellowship!

Men’s Ministry will be heading over to Tower Grove Park at 10 AM for the Festival of Nations. If you plan to attend or would like to carpool, please reach out to Mike.

Then in the evening, the Seasoned Group will have the opportunity to get together for some ice cream, fun, and games! Let Rick and Cheryl know you’re coming so they can make sure they have plenty of ice cream for everyone.

This past Sunday, we had a great message from Reggie where he challenged us with one simple question: WHY?

In Matthew 4:18–22, Jesus calls Peter and Andrew to follow him, and there is no hesitation or questioning—they simply go.

Reggie challenged us to think about what may be keeping us from hearing God’s call and going without question. Sometimes hurt, feelings, fear, or confusion can keep us from moving in what God is calling us to do.

He also asked us to think about the people God has placed around us:

Who hears you?
Who holds you?
Who helps you?
Who heals you?
Who hones you?
Who hides you?

And just as importantly—who have you been those things for?

If you missed Sunday’s message, tune in and take some time this weekend to reflect on your own “why,” what may be keeping you from responding to God’s call, and the people God has placed around you along the way.

💪 It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for the Men’s Ministry weekly gathering!

Gentlemen, come spend the evening connecting with other men through fellowship, encouragement, and support. There’s a lot of wisdom to be shared when men of different ages and walks of life come together, learn from one another, and encourage each other in their faith.

Join us tonight at 6:30 PM in Highland. Whether you’ve been coming regularly or haven’t joined us yet, there’s a place for you!
