The recently coined word “missional” is often used to describe a mode of being or serving. While living altruistically is commendable, the Perspectives course defines mission as the accomplishment of God’s global purpose among all peoples. The work of initiating Christ-following movements among all peoples (evangelization) is part of the larger purpose of God being glorified through the transforming reality of the blessing of Christ’s lordship in every place and people. World Christians are those who find strategic, creative and fruitful ways to directly contribute to the accomplishment of God’s global purpose. There are at least four ways or “practices” to pursue God’s global purpose: to go to another people as a cross-cultural worker, to welcome those from other cultures in one’s home setting, to send others as cross-cultural workers, or to mobilize God’s people for His global mission.

They are mature believers with a passion to see Christ glorified among all peoples. Regional Directors have a deep understanding of the content, vision, and mission of Perspectives and use their gifts to shepherd and grow their region.

One of the four disciplines of a World Christian is Community: Walking with Others. Be part of a growing church. Find ways to build up others in community. To really join the journey that God’s been unfolding for thousands of years, don’t hesitate to develop relationships with people older and younger than yourself. Find a band of like-minded people to keep you accountable.
