Gentlemen,

It is hard to put into words the feelings that I have today, the final day of my Presidency. It was both a loooooooong 2 years and a fast 2!

Here is what I can say without difficulty. It has been my privilege to serve as your President and an even greater one to have worked with all of you on the board.

We accomplished many great things over these two years. From increases in membership and member participation, to outreach and chesed events, we have accomplished a lot. Our December 24th program has been revitalized and has been profitable for the first time in a while. Our Super Bowl event has grown dramatically and is very popular. Our Sukkot event continues to be an excellent draw and some of our flash events, like bowling with the boys were very successful. Even with the disruption to our normal programming from the Corona Virus, we have still continued to thrive. Thanks to Dan Shifrin for the daily trivia questions. It has been a great addition. Our Hearing Men's Voices virtual event was inspiring. And the "Tastes of Shavuot" drive by event was soooo well received. And the list goes on.

I end my Presidency with a profound sense of accomplishment, but with a small twinge that there is still more for us to do. It goes without saying that I am not going anywhere. I will still be around and be as involved as ever.

I want to wish my successor, Spencer Brooks the best of luck over the next 2 years and I am always here to provide any assistance I can give.

Our club is a very strong one. My hope for our future is that we continue to grow in numbers, grow in the quality of our events, find a way to include ALL men in the shul in our kehilah, and continue to grow closer as a brotherhood.

My profound gratitude to all who helped make these past 2 years special for me and for our club. No one person can make a Men's Club great. It truly takes a village! WE made the past 2 years great. And WE can make the next 2, under our new President, Spencer Brooks, even better.

In brotherhood and friendship,

Rich Zirin
HPCT-CAE Men's Club President (for a few more hours)

Many thanks to everyone who attended, and importantly, who volunteered to help out with, our inaugural event on Wednesday night. In spite of the rain and being moved indoors, the evening ran smoothly and we all had a great time. Here's the write-up of the presentation of the rounds of beverage tastings, for anyone who may have missed it. Stay tuned for lots of photos, and in the meantime, shabbat shalom and chag sameach to all.

We are saddened to report the passing of Ray Sabin, who was one of our former Men's Club members.

Ray was very active in our club for many years, starting at Congregation Anshe Emeth in South River, and continuing at HPCT-CAE. He served as an officer on our board, chaired our breakfast speaker committee for several terms, and was our Man of the Year in 2012.

The funeral will held tomorrow, Thursday, September 25th, at Cedar Park Cemetery 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, N.J. at 1:00 P.M.

Shiva will be observed at the home of Ray's son, Jonathan Sabin, at 29 Park Hill Terrace, West Windsor, N.J. at the following times:

Thursday - following the funeral, with minyan at 8:00 P.M.
Friday - 11:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M.
Saturday - 6:30 P.M. with minyan at 8:15
Sunday - 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Ray will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and beloved wife Esther. Hamakom Yenahem; may God comfort the mourners.

Just a reminder that we are once again recruiting Men's Club members to usher for High Holiday services. Your presence facilitates a smooth running service and provides an additional layer of security for our congregation. For everyone who has agreed to usher, we are holding a training meeting tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m., following evening minyan. Please contact Ira Kizner as soon as possible if you have volunteered but have not yet finalized your positions and shifts. And thank you all in advance for your help!
