Proverbs Chapter 2 — Seek Wisdom Like Treasure!
Proverbs 2 reminds us that wisdom must be pursued intentionally. We are told to seek wisdom “as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures” (Proverbs 2:4, NKJV). When we do, we begin to understand the fear of the Lord and grow in the knowledge of God.
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” — Proverbs 2:6, NKJV
Bishop Evans reminded us that Proverbs contains conditions and benefits: when we receive God’s Word, obey His instruction, and walk in His ways, there are blessings, protection, wisdom, and direction attached to our obedience.
Chapter 2 also warns us about wrong relationships and the immoral woman, whose path leads away from life. Wisdom helps us recognize danger before we become trapped by it.
Mother Evans also reminded us that Proverbs speaks powerfully to women and gives instruction for living with wisdom, character, discernment, and godly understanding.
From Bible Study, we were challenged to remember these three cords with the Word of God: STUDY — OBEY — TEACH.
We must also remember that sometimes our biggest enemy is ourselves. A lack of spiritual truth can produce spiritual disease, so we must continually stay under the Word of God.
This is an exciting study! As we continue through Proverbs, may we seek wisdom like hidden treasure and allow God’s Word to correct us, protect us, direct us, and transform us. Excited to move to chapter 3🙌🫶
