Hi Team,

Here are a few pictures from Matthew Phillips' ordination the deaconate a few weeks ago! Matthew was St. Christopher's seminarian intern for the past year. His ordination took place at his sponsoring parish, St. Paul's in Winston-Salem. Thanks to Tommie for the pictures!

God's Peace,

Hi Team,

Two exciting Sundays coming up!

First, this Sunday, May 24 is Pentecost! It is also the last Sunday of having our seminarian, Matthew Phillips, with us. Matthew will preach.

Second, the last Sunday of May, May 31 is Trinity Sunday! It's also our annual hot dog lunch after worship (a recent one is pictured here!). That afternoon @ 5pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, Matthew will be ordained to the transitional diaconate. Please come show your support! 520 Summit St Winston-Salem, NC.

Hi Team,

Alleluia, He is risen!

Happy Easter to all. I’m just writing with a couple administrative notes:

1) First, the office will be closed this week. I have a deadline for Oxford approaching and am taking a couple vacation days to prepare. (I am not leaving town, however, so pastoral emergencies should still come to my cell phone.) Our volunteers have been working overtime for Holy Week as well, so the folks who can take a break should get to!

2) Second, vestry will meet as planned next Sunday, April 12, 2026 at noon. We usually meet downstairs in the basement, but next Sunday we will meet in the church so as not to disrupt coffee hour. (Altar Guild, we won’t start the meeting until y’all have finished, promise!)

God’s Peace,

Daniel+

Good Friday @ noon on Friday, April 3. Stations of the Cross will follow the service.

Easter Sunday @ 10am on Sunday, April 5. We'll have a baptism!

God's Peace,

Hi Team,

Our Lenten bible study on Romans continues tomorrow (Wednesday) @ 6pm. Tomorrow, after some review, we will focus on Romans 3. I will try to summarize the end of chapter 1 and give an overview of chapter 2 so that we can better dig into chapter 3. Our goal will be to get to at least Romans 3:25, which includes a crucial phrase: “sacrifice of atonement.” This is a reference to the Yom Kippur sacrifice outlined in Leviticus 16, and Paul uses it in reference to Jesus.

Note: some of you had issues with the translation you had with you at bible study. The text of Romans 3 in an accessible current translation can be found here: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%203&version=NRSVUE

Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? Much, in every way. For in the first place, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. What if some were unfaithful? Will their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Although every human is a liar, let...
