Hi Team,

Alleluia, He is risen!

Happy Easter to all. I’m just writing with a couple administrative notes:

1) First, the office will be closed this week. I have a deadline for Oxford approaching and am taking a couple vacation days to prepare. (I am not leaving town, however, so pastoral emergencies should still come to my cell phone.) Our volunteers have been working overtime for Holy Week as well, so the folks who can take a break should get to!

2) Second, vestry will meet as planned next Sunday, April 12, 2026 at noon. We usually meet downstairs in the basement, but next Sunday we will meet in the church so as not to disrupt coffee hour. (Altar Guild, we won’t start the meeting until y’all have finished, promise!)

God’s Peace,

Daniel+

Hi Team,

Just a reminder of our Holy Week schedule:

Maundy Thursday @ noon tomorrow, April 2. This will include the stripping of the altar and the opportunity for foot washing.

Good Friday @ noon on Friday, April 3. Stations of the Cross will follow the service.

Easter Sunday @ 10am on Sunday, April 5. We'll have a baptism!

God's Peace,
Daniel+

Hi Team,

Our Romans bible study continues tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11 @ 6pm in the parish hall. We will do an overview of Romans 6-7 and then spend most of our time focusing on Romans 8. I've emailed the congregation some further info, as well.

God's Peace,

Hi Team,

Our Lenten bible study on Romans continues tomorrow (Wednesday) @ 6pm. Tomorrow, after some review, we will focus on Romans 3. I will try to summarize the end of chapter 1 and give an overview of chapter 2 so that we can better dig into chapter 3. Our goal will be to get to at least Romans 3:25, which includes a crucial phrase: “sacrifice of atonement.” This is a reference to the Yom Kippur sacrifice outlined in Leviticus 16, and Paul uses it in reference to Jesus.

Note: some of you had issues with the translation you had with you at bible study. The text of Romans 3 in an accessible current translation can be found here: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%203&version=NRSVUE

Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? Much, in every way. For in the first place, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. What if some were unfaithful? Will their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Although every human is a liar, let...

Hi Team,

A reminder that the funeral service for Tom Gordon will be tomorrow @ 2pm. We will share holy communion together, and Tom's ashes will be laid to rest in our memorial garden. The congregation is welcome to attend.

Hi Team,

A few of you have recently gotten scam emails from someone pretending to be me. As a reminder, I will never email you to ask you for cash, gift cards, or money of any kind. If you are at all suspicious or unsure of an email that seems to be from me, please double check the email address. If it doesn't match what you usually get from me, beware! And if you really can’t tell, just text me to ask.

See you tomorrow, and God’s Peace.

Hi Team,

I’ve got two calendar things for us.

1) Our Ash Wednesday service is this Wednesday, February 18 @ noon. The service will include the imposition of ashes and holy communion, and I will be preaching. The service will not be live streamed, however. If a midday service on a weekday doesn’t work for your schedule, I encourage you to find an Episcopal Church nearby which has an Ash Wednesday service either in the early morning or in the evening. (Our friends at St. Mary’s here in High Point have a service at 7pm that Wednesday evening, for example.)

2) Our Lenten bible study begins on Wednesday, February 25 @ 6pm in St. Christopher’s Parish Hall. This bible study will run for four Wednesdays, starting at 6pm and ending (I promise!) at 7pm. Our four Wednesdays are Feb 25, March 4, March 11, and March 18.

A few details. We will be studying Paul’s letter to the Romans. This will be a proper bible study, which is to say that our goal is to understand Paul’s letter to the Romans on its own terms, not on ours. Now, Romans is a big letter, both in terms of its length and in terms of its impact. So: we will only scratch the surface, and we certainly won’t cover all 16 chapters. Each week before we begin, I’ll email us a passage to focus on. Our first Wednesday, February 25, we’ll focus primarily on some historical background to the letter itself and then explore at least part of chapter 1. If you’d like to read ahead of time, I recommend reading Romans chapter 1.

God's Peace,
Daniel+

Hi Team,

Just a few videos of our snowy church campus! I took these on the afternoon of Sunday, February 1.

I've not yet been to the church campus today, but I'll update us on the state of things once I've seen it.

God's Peace,

Hi Team,

I’m writing with the worship plan for tomorrow (Sunday, February 1).

I will be leading Morning Prayer and preaching via Zoom at 10am. The Zoom meeting will open at 9:45am. The link is below. The lessons were just emailed.

We will not have our usual bulletin, as we had prepped for Eucharist but are now changing plans. You’ll need your Book of Common Prayer, and I’ll give instructions as we go.

We’ve gotten quite a bit of snow today, and as of earlier today many of the walkways at church aren’t in good shape for us. So, this seems the wisest move.

Stay warm, and God’s peace.

Daniel+
