“The opposite of poverty is not wealth. The opposite of poverty is justice.” — Bryan Stevenson

Tomorrow in worship (10am, in-person) we will wrestle with two newsworthy items from the week: our first trillionaire and the conviction and sentencing of Karmelo Anthony in Texas.

The harvest is plentiful. The laborers are few.

We've been waiting for you at The Beloved Community! Join us tomorrow, 10am for Mother's Day, a Celebration of All Women, and observance of National Foster Care Awareness Month. "Mothering is a political act." (- bell hooks) We'll be looking at the theme of embodied, localized love as resistance with a focus on the scripture of Acts 17:22-31... "The God You Already Know."

On this upcoming 6th Sunday of Easter, we hold in one hand the risen Christ's Easter promise — that no one is abandoned — and in the other, three overlapping invitations. We celebrate mothers and all women whose labor of love, seen and unseen, holds the world together. We honor every child in foster care who has known the fear of not belonging, and every caregiver who has said yes. And we hear Paul in Athens, standing before an altar to an Unknown God, saying: the One who made you already knows your name. Sacred belonging is not earned. It is given. Our task is to extend what God has already declared.

We will be worshipping in-person this Sunday as we honor all women and also have a special observance for National Foster Care Awareness Month. 10am EDT. We've been waiting for you!

If you like, you're welcome to also stick around afterwards for some fellowship and learning as there are two class options - a deeper look into The Happiness Lab podcast series or learning about United Methodism.

All are welcome at The Beloved Community. 1015 Mill Avenue; High Point, North Carolina.

DO NOT LET YOUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED - and yet, here we are! This Sunday's theme is the spirituality of the unclear path: the courage to keep walking when we can't see the whole road, grounded in trust rather than certainty.

Join us for our first Sunday, online-only, worship experience as we explore "Where are we going?" through the gospel lens of John 14:1-14.

We will be having a second discussion framed around the series, Stranger Things (Netflix hit). As we discovered with our last conversation, it's not entirely necessary for you to have been a fan of the show or to have seen the entire series (clips will be shared). You are welcome to join the conversation. This week's theme will be Sacrifice and Self-Giving Love. The study guide has been put together with a variety of religious influences. We'll be on Zoom, this Wednesday (March 4) from 6-7pm EST. Private message us if interested for the Zoom link (same as last month).
