The ongoing government shutdown has led to a significant surge in the number of individuals seeking help from local food pantries. This increase highlights the growing need for food support within the community during this challenging period.
Concerns from WIC and SNAP Benefits Recipients
As a result of the shutdown, many recipients of WIC and SNAP Benefits have expressed numerous questions and concerns regarding their eligibility and access to resources. The uncertainty faced by these individuals underscores the importance of providing clear and timely information. (Sec Below)
Available Food Resources in Guilford County
To address these concerns and support those in need, Bro. Bobby Hamilton has gathered valuable information, including a comprehensive list of food resources and food pantries located in Guilford County. This information is intended to be shared widely to ensure that all residents who may require assistance are informed about available options.

WIC/SNAP Information

The North Carolina WIC Program remains open and operational despite the current federal government shutdown. Families can continue to access WIC services as usual.

However, SNAP benefits (formerly known as Food Stamps) are being impacted:

📢October SNAP benefits will continue as normal.

📢November SNAP benefits are currently on pause starting Nov. 1, 2025, due to a lack of federal funding.

📢You can still use any benefits already on your EBT card to shop at stores that accept SNAP/EBT.

NCDHHS is monitoring the situation and will share updates as they become available. We’ll continue to post reliable information and local resources here to help families stay informed and supported. 💙

If you need help finding assistance with housing, food, healthcare, utility payments, and more, there is help. 2-1-1 Referral Specialists are available 24 hours a day, every day by dialing 2-1-1 or 888-892-1162 from any phone. The call is free, confidential, and available in any language.
