The first Saturday in May. What a beautiful day for our annual cemetery association meeting! We cleaned up headstones and treated rust on the fencing. We had our potluck lunch and then the meeting. Among topics were filling in low spots in the cemetery grounds, getting a stronger flagpole after our old one finally bit the dust and the treasurer’s report. We are always requesting and accepting donation to help cover our annual expenses of $4-5,000 for grounds maintenance and repairs. Please send your donation to Brad Miller (a direct descendant of the Jeans lineage), 613 Constellation Blvd, League City, TX, 77573. We are a volunteer organization and need all the help we can get. Also, we just installed and dedicated our new “BRACK RUTLEDGE Memorial Lane” signs. The late Dorothy Brack and the late Pearl and Ronnie Rutledge were generous supporters of the cemetery.

Well, our old flag pole and light broke beyond repair. The Board voted to purchase a new one to replace it. A BIG thanks to Terry Rutledge for donating his labor to put the new one up! The new black pole matches the front fence and archway nicely. We had to use reserve funds to make it happen. So…as always…we graciously accept any and all donations for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of our beloved cemetery. (please send your check to Brad Miller, 613 Constellation Blvd, League City, TX, 77573)

Last Saturday, May 7 (the first Saturday of May), we had our annual cemetery meeting (Everyone is invited: cleanup at 10am, por luck lunch at noon, meeting at 1:00.) We did some headstone cleaning, evaluated the new gravel on Cemetery Lane, touched up paint on the fences, identified headstones that need attention from family members of the deceased, cleared away old flowers that were in really bad shape and discussed the moles and low spots in the the grounds. ***The maintenance expenses of the cemetery are continually more than it receives in donations and investments. Please consider an annual, ongoing gift in the memory of your ancestors to help keep our cemetery looking beautiful! (Mail your contributions to: Brad Miller, Treasurer 613 Constellation Blvd. League City, TX 77573 ***This is a new address.)

Retired our old cemetery flag today (*it will be given to a Boy Scout troop for proper disposal) and replaced it with a new flag and rope. There was also a tractor parade coming from Price’s Branch Road onto Highway JJ. Must have been 50+ tractors that drove by!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and recommendation and/or order for social distancing, congregating in groups of 10 or less, and shelter-in-place guidelines, the annual Price’s Branch Memorial Cemetery Association meeting scheduled for May 2, 2020, has been postponed until further notice. The cemetery is still open, as always, to visitors. We pray for the health and patience of our community and world through and beyond this global crisis.

On this beautiful fall day a few volunteers located all the buried boundary markers in the north lawn using a metal detector and a shovel. We also put a solar light on top of the flagpole so we can fly the American flag 24/7. There are still plots available in this well-kept cemetery. Contact Diana (Varnon) Schnabel at [email protected] for plot purchase.

Our fence is finished! Phase 1 in 2011 was the archway with “Price’s Branch” to welcome all visitors. Phase 2 in 2015 was the southeast section between Price’s Branch Christian Church and the cemetery. Phase 3 today is the northeast section north of the cemetery drive. Thanks to the folks who helped today and to those who make contributions to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of this beautiful, historic landmark.

It’s almost time for our annual cemetery meeting and Spring cleaning, AND we will be finishing out the fence on the northeast corner. We have 60 feet (10 sections) of fence to set and assemble and could sure use your help! We will start digging post holes with a power auger at 9am, set the posts in fast set concrete, have pot-luck lunch at noon and our meeting at 1:00pm. Then we will assemble the sections and hope to be done by 4:00. Four years ago we did 24 sections in one day with lots of great help. Hope you can join us for part or all.
