It was a big weekend for HCC and FCCH. On Saturday afternoon, our congregations met Hilary McLellan, our search committee's nominee to be our called pastor. We had such an enjoyable evening, we almost forgot it was raining!

Congratulations to Higganum Congregational Church and First Congregational Church of Haddam on an auspicious occasion!

HCC and FCCH members today voted to affirm their intention to move forward to form a new church. There will be much work ahead as the two churches become one, but this is a significant milestone in a process of shared ministry and mission that began several years ago.

We will continue to worship as we have done, alternating monthly between our two campuses. (Join us for World Communion Sunday and our CROP Walk Kick Off next Sunday, October 3rd, at Higganum Congregational Church or via YouTube!)

Each church substantially surpassed the 2/3rds majority that had been set by the respective Church Councils as a basis for a consensus.

Unofficial Count:
HCC: 57 ballots recorded, with 47 "Yes" votes, 5 "No," 3 abstentions, and 2 unmarked ballots

FCCH: 58 ballots recorded, with 56 "Yes" votes and 2 "No"

(The minutes of today's special business meetings will provide the official tally and include a list of participating members.)
Thank you to all who were part of this historic vote, and especially to the Moderators and Clerks for their faithful and diligent efforts.
