“What is the meaning of life anyway?”
“What do people GAIN…
—from ‘ALL their labors’
—-under the sun’?”
(Read Ecclesiastes 1:1-3 from the Bible)

I’m studying Ecclesiastes this next 30 days with some friends using the YouVersion App and a wonderful ministry call “Through The Word” (TTW)
Ecclesiastes 1 written by King Solomon, considered one of the wisest men that ever lived, suggests the question above about life.
Here are the TTW authors thoughts and my comments:
The authors propose Solomon using the phrase “under the sun” in context with “meaningless” is suggesting…
… a life…
“as if THIS EARTH and THIS LIFE
is ‘ALL there is’.”
This reminded me of an old old song from the 1960s called “Is that all there is” sung by Peggy Lee.

The lyrics of Peggy Lee’s song suggests…
…if we know NO OTHER THING than…
—what we see and experience in the natural—
…we will indeed find ourselves thinking,
“then let’s just keep dancing;
let’s break out the booze
and
(try to) ‘have a ball’ (that never happens).”
But we Christians have inside information; a spirit that KNOWS there is “so much more”.
Breaking out the booze or any other thing that seems to offer us a temporary patch on life is only empty.
BUT GOD… is not empty.
My relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit offers me daily excitement into a world of unending joy in discovery and life.
I hope everyone reading this has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It changes everything from…
…”everything is meaningless” (Ecclesiastes 1:2)
To
…”You have shown me the way of life,
and
“you will fill me with
the joy of your presence.’ (Acts 2:28 NLT).
