St. Luke's United Methodist Church

This past Sunday, instead of a traditional sermon, we heard something even more powerful -- the stories of real people whose lives have been shaped by this community of faith. From worship and missions to the Hispanic ministry and youth programs, we were reminded that St. Luke's is more than a church. It is a family.

We heard how worship extends beyond Sunday morning songs and prayers -- it is the love that walks out the door with us. We heard how missions transform lives, one person at a time. We heard how welcoming others in their own language fulfills the Great Commission of Mark 16:15. And we heard how this church walked faithfully alongside a family through 61 years of life, loss, and love.

As 1 Corinthians 13:13 reminds us, faith, hope, and love endure -- and the greatest of these is love. That love is alive and at work here.

Great is Thy faithfulness, morning by morning.

What if the Ten Commandments were never meant to be a checklist? This week's sermon from Exodus 19-20 reminds us that God's commands are not about earning approval -- they are about learning who God is and who we are in relationship to Him.

After 400 years of slavery, the Israelites had been told their value came from how hard they worked and how much they produced. Sound familiar? God used the wilderness -- and the Ten Commandments -- to reorder that thinking and teach them that their worth comes from being God's beloved children, not from what they earn or own.

True abundance is not found in the next vacation, the bigger paycheck, or the nicer house. It begins when we are in right relationship with God, and flows outward into every other relationship we have. Join us as we explore what it means to live a consecrated, reordered life rooted in trust.

Please plan to join us this Sunday on Consecration Sunday as we submit our commitments for the coming year, financially, spiriturally, and with our time and talents. We will worship all together as a united church family in our Sanctuary at 10AM.

Have you ever stood at the edge of something unknown, feeling trapped between the life you have and the life God is calling you toward? That is exactly where the Israelites found themselves in Exodus 14 -- backed against the sea, with Pharaoh's army closing in.

This week in our series A Consecrated Life, we explored what it means to trust God in those liminal spaces -- the moments between the familiar and the promised. The consecrated life is not one that looks backward with longing. It is one that moves forward in trust, one faithful step at a time.

We continue this series this Sunday as we talk about Tithing then we'll conclude next Sunday, October 18 with Consecration Sunday, a combined church family worship service at 10AM in the Sanctuary plus a Celebration Lunch in the FLC immediately following!
