Serve, Follow, Love…

The Kingdom of G-d is NOT a sedentary place, it is a place of action! All three words I started this post with are verbs.

The Father is seeking a Kingdom of Priests. Priests, by definition serve the King. This involves “doing” the Word and not just “hearing” as James says in chapter 2.

As talmudim (disciples) we are to follow our Master, our Rabbi (teacher) so closely that the dust of His sandals get on our garments. This is from the Judaic perspective of what it means to be a disciple. Yeshua (Jesus) is our Great Rabbi, or Teacher.

Finally, LOVE. While this word can be a noun, in Kingdom terms it is a verb. Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My Commands.”. The evidence of love is found in the “doing.”

Come “do” this Kingdom life with us today and every Saturday. Let’s SHOW Him our LOVE today!

A-Ha!

Here’s a little eye opening moment to go with your morning cup of coffee. As I was finishing preparations for this Sabbath’s services something popped out! It is not necessarily part of the message, but important enough to share now.

In John 14 we often quote verse 15, “If you love Me keep My Commands…”. The whole chapter is rich with meaning, but pay attention to verse 24. “He who doesn’t love Me doesn’t keep My words. the word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent NMe.”. (remember I am blind, so punctuation and capitalization may not match exactly)

But think about this…I mean REALLY think about what Messiah is ACTUALLY saying here! It is so plain, I don’t know why it has not jumped out at me before! Yeshua (Jesus) is so clearly telling us that He did NOT teach something “new” or “different.”. He said the words you hear aren’t his own. In other words…He wasn’t just riffin’ or coming up with some new ideas off the cuff! The words He spoke were the Father’s!!! Remember, Num 23:19 says that the Father is NOT a man that He should lie and Malachi teaches that G-d is the SAME yesterday, today and forever and changes NOT! So what “words” did the Father give us that are eternal, unchanging…FOREVER? Mt Sinai ring a bell? The entire book of Deuteronomy in the Hebrew is called “Devarim.” This word actually means “words!”. The so-called “New Testament” contains NOTHING NEW! It is simply the account of Yeshua coming to live out the Commands of Torah so you and I have a vivid example of what it looks like to WALK in the Way He, the Father Commanded. Matthew to Revelation is a Re-newed Covenant. Yes, salvation is a free gift. This is our invitation and starting point where we begin to work out our Sanctification through the Holy Spirit who leads us in righteousness which is defined by Scripture in Psalm 119 and Deuteronomy 6 as OBEDIENCE to the Law.

Do you love Yeshua? Let’s show Him! Let’s choose to walk in obedience. Let’s choose to actually bare GOOD fruit. Let’s demonstrate we are among those who actually “DO” His Will and not those who just pay Him lip service. and pretend to belong to Him.
