When getting today’s mail, I paid a little extra attention to our dogwood tree blooming. Something made me say, “I should get a picture of that!” I walked closer to the curb, and saw that I could snap a good overall picture of the tree and the church, and thought, “It’s been 20 years since I snapped this view, I figure.”

So, our cover photo on the church page has a new look. Here’s the new and old photos together. 🙂

Don't forget to "Spring Forward" one hour when you go to bed on Saturday night, March 7th. It's also a good time to remember to check your smoke detectors and change any batteries, if needed. If your smoke detectors have been up for a while, bear in mind that some units are only good for around 10 years of normal use. Might be a good idea to inspect and replace the whole detector.

With regret, Faith Church announces we must cancel our worship service for February 8th.

Our back parking area is essentially a couple inches deep of ice, especially in the shaded area close to the building. We would rather not have anyone to fall on this mess, and early morning temperatures are forecast to be below freezing.

And if that isn’t bad enough, we have a few illnesses that are concerning enough to warrant cancellation. Even our music provider and church bulletin maker is recovering from a light touch of food poisoning.

We hope to see everyone on February 15th. ❤️

Clearly, with the abundance of snow falling today, we will ❌cancel❌ morning worship services for this Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Please stay warm and safe as we hope and plan to gather again for services on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Update - Friday afternoon, January 30. Our church remains well frozen. Main driveway is still hampered by a blockade of ice near 10-12 inches in height, and the slope of the driveway has melted somewhat. However the parking lot is still like a skating rink. The front stoop of the church is still not fully melted off yet, steps still hazardous. Our cul-de-sac is mostly clear.

Saturday is forecast to have snow from early morning to late evening, with high temperatures only in the mid 20s, and possible accumulation forecast from 3-8 inches. 20+ mph winds likely. I wish it was possible to deliver good news, but with meteorologists predictions it looks as if we will miss our second week of Sunday morning worship services.

Pray that all may remain safe during this winter weather, and that we can join in worship on February 8th, 2026.

Faith Church Family and Friends, yet again, this coming weekend, it is possible that the Hickory area could see more wintry weather in the forecast.

Low temperatures in the teens are forecast, and although it is still early to make any firm call, we are sending word to everyone to keep aware of the upcoming weather forecast.

Currently, our driveway and parking lot is still very much like a skating rink. As you can see in the photos from Wednesday at Noon, the back entry has a good bit of frozen mess pushed up by the passing snowplowing on Hwy 127. A 4wd truck with ample ground clearance might make it in, but a car would likely get high-centered/stuck. I witnessed that very situation at Arby’s on Tuesday.

The back parking lot is slick from the back door to our red shed by the kudzu. It’s not deep (maybe 1.5 inches), but refreezing at night has made it solid ice. A small area has started melting in the driveway near the Pastor’s usual BBQ trailer spot. Our cul-de-sac is mostly clear as the Town of Brookford worked on that part of the street. The steps are hazardous and the front stoop appears to have accumulated a good bit, but it has started melting.

We will update and announce here ASAP if weather conditions again necessitate that we must cancel this Sunday’s morning worship service.

Faith Reformed Church regrets to announce that out of concern for the hazardous winter weather forecast for this weekend, we have decided to ❌cancel❌ morning worship services for this Sunday, January 25, 2026.

TV weather forecasts indicate a likelihood of a winter mix of sleet and snow for our area during Saturday afternoon and night.

Sunday's forecast indicates a changeover to freezing rain, and with the added element of temperatures in the twenties, chances are plentiful for dangerous driving conditions on icy roads, as well as ice on power lines and trees that could result in power outages, possible traffic signal issues, etc.

Please stay warm and safe as we hope and plan to gather again for services on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Folks, it may be a bit early, but Faith Church is watching the weather forecast for a possible winter weather event that may give our region in Hickory, NC some trouble. If this rolls in Friday or Saturday and dumps the snow/ice that is predicted, our January 25th services may be closed. Please watch for updates later this week, as forecasts are evolving.

Plan now to join us for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, Wednesday, December 24th at 5:00 p.m. This is always a highlight of our Christmas season.

Faith Reformed Church is located south of Hickory, in Brookford, just in sight of the intersection of South Center Street and Highway 127 South. (204 19th Ave. SW is our address, but plenty of available parking in back of church) Merry Christmas to all! 🙂❤️🎄
