It is with much thought and prayer, the leadership of Unity Baptist Church will be canceling services through March 26, 2020. This is to comply with the CDC's recommendations to limit gatherings to 10 people or less. This should not be understood as a lack of faith but adhering to the Bible's teaching to submit ourselves to those that God has put in government. [ 47 more words ]

Everyday if you look at the news, tucked away in a place that is easily overlooked, you will find an article about Christianity. The article usually describes a law suit to remove a nativity scene, a copy of the ten commandments, public prayer in Jesus name, or anything that might cause people to stop and think about Jesus. How would you characterize your walk as a Christian? Are you full of joy, peace and love? Is serving God a burden for you? There are too many Christians that are miserable. They have no peace, very little joy, no gentleness and when they get into a difficult place in their life, they possess no self-control. When you have studied the Bible for any length of time, you realize that God does things that might not make a lot of sense. Look at the people God has called to do His work. Moses killed an Egyptian, Paul tried to stamp out Christianity, Rahab the pr******te was King David's great-grandmother and in the lineage of Jesus. It seems that every person called to service was either unqualified or broken in some fashion. [ 390 more words ]

Another day and another school shooting. It seems that no matter which way I turn there is another story of murder, r**e, su***de, and war. The entire world seems filled with hate and a desire to destroy everyone and everything. Why are we seeing so much hate and violence? The violence and hate have always been here. The Winter Olympics are currently being played. I enjoy seeing all the different countries put away their differences and come together in peace and fellowship. I look at the athletes and think of how hard it was for them to make it to the Olympics. The long hours of training and the discipline required to compete on a world stage. People often will question their salvation. They start to doubt and wonder if they have really been saved. There are others that will proclaim that, yes they are saved because they believe in Jesus, but they may be wrong. Being wrong in a matter as important as salvation is deadly.
