St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is a young, vibrant parish with a pioneering spirit attributable in part to St Elizabeth Ann Seton. It's the members of St.

We strive to bring everyone into a relationship with Jesus Christ as His disciple. A disciple prays, learns, shares and witnesses. In 1989, the Archdiocese of Dubuque purchased ten acres in Hiawatha to establish a new Catholic parish to serve the needs of a growing population in the northeast side of Cedar Rapids. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish first began worshipping in temporary spaces. In 1992, Pha

se One of our permanent building was started. It included an upper hall to serve as a transitional church and a lower hall for meeting and classroom space, as well as a social hall. The second building phase began in 1999 and it added office space and a multi-purpose classroom area in the lower level. The latest phase of construction began in 2008 and was dedicated on Sunday, June 13, 2010. It includes:

-A church that can seat up to 1,150 people, with initial pews and chairs currently seating 840,
-A windowed walk connecting the church to the original building,
-A new nursery adjacent to the worship space,
-Eucharistic Reservation Chapel,
-Reconciliation Chapel,
-A serving kitchen for the upper hall in the original building,
-Renovations to the existing building for a Formation Center, as well as Youth Ministry. Elizabeth Ann Seton is a young, vibrant parish with a pioneering spirit attributable in part to its role as the only Catholic parish in Hiawatha. Elizabeth Ann Seton that makes us Church, rather than any actual structure; however, our new church allows us to best fulfill our mission of hospitality, education and acts of charity. Currently our parish is made up of over 1,450 households. We look forward to increased membership to enable us to further help those within our community and beyond.

As was often the case, their story was fully told by their executioner, a man who later received baptism because he was so impressed by the courage of the men he killed. He sought out Pope Damasus and told him the story.

A Greek philosopher who tried every school of thought before he met an old man on a beach who told him about Christ. Saint Justin Martyr opened the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart by reminding us that truth, wherever it is found, belongs to Christ. He was beheaded around AD 165 for refusing to sacrifice to idols. June begins with a thinker who died for what he knew.

The Trinity is not a math problem to solve. It is a love story to enter.
This Sunday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. God reveals Himself to Moses not as a distant force, but as merciful, gracious, and slow to anger. Paul sends the Corinthians off with a blessing rooted in three Persons. And Jesus tells Nicodemus the most famous sentence ever spoken: "God so loved the world that he gave his only Son."
Father. Son. Holy Spirit. One God. One rescue. One love poured out for you.
Join us as we worship the God who is not alone and who refuses to leave us alone either.

🕊️ All are welcome to join us in person or online.

🙏 Mass Times:
Saturday 5:00 PM
Sunday 8:30 AM (livestream) & 11:00 AM

Your life. Your voice. Your story.
Not someone else's. Yours.
The Holy Spirit does not erase our differences, he unites them. He does not make everyone identical, he makes the Church one. Which means the gospel reaches the world not in spite of your unique story, but through it.
You are not a bystander to the mission. You are part of how it happens.

The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart is June 12, and we want to invite you to prepare in a beautiful way.

Matt Fradd and Sr. Maria Goretti are leading a 12-day Heart of Jesus Challenge that takes you into a deeper, more personal encounter with Christ's love. Not a love that feels far off, but one that draws near to heal, restore, and offer real rest. Rooted in devotion cherished since the early Church and guided by themes from Matt Fradd's book "Jesus Our Refuge," this challenge does not just help you understand God's love. It invites you to encounter it.

We are doing this together as a community and we would love for you to join us.
If you are not yet on Hallow, the app is free to download. Search for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Hiawatha inside the app, join our church page, and do this challenge with us.

The Heart of Jesus is burning for you. Let's go there together.

Jesus did not rescue us so we could stay comfortable. He made that clear: "As the Father has sent me, so I send you. Receive the Holy Spirit."That line matters more than we sometimes let ourselves admit. We were never meant to be rescued people who stay put. We were always meant to be rescued people who are sent into the world. The rescue was never the finish line. It was the starting point.

Here is the deepest truth of Pentecost. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. The same Spirit that sent the apostles into the world. That Spirit has been given to you.Not in theory. Not symbolically. But really. At your baptism. Strengthened in confirmation. And renewed every single time you receive the Holy Eucharist. You are not just a person who admires what God has done from a distance. You are a person in whom God is still acting, right now, today.
