Ten of Zion's youth and three adult leaders are headed to the Higher Things "Dying Church, Rising Hope" conference in St. Louis next week. Keep them in prayer as they prepare to attend this conference in a week.

Rev. Dr. Dean Rothchild was installed as Associate Pastor at Zion by Rev. W. Max Mons, IDE First Vice-President Saturday night, June 13, 2026.

We were pleased to celebrate this special occasion with him and the following pastors in attendance: Rev. Solomona Rakotonirina from St. Silas in North Liberty, Rev. Daniel Krueger (Emeriti), Rev. W. Max Mons from St. Paul Lutheran Chapel in Iowa City, and Pastor Zellers.

A reception followed the installation and Divine Service that night and we give thanks for his ministry among us.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to others. Our offices will be closed Monday, May 25, as we reflect on their sacrifice.

Today we celebrate the High Feast of Pentecost when on the 50th day after the resurrection of Jesus, the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the Church of God.

O God, on this day You once taught the hearts of Your faithful people by sending them the light of Your Holy Spirit. Grant us in our day by the same Spirit to have a right understanding in all things and evermore to rejoice in His holy consolation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (Collect for Pentecost)

Today is Ascension Day. Forty days after His resurrection, our Savior Jesus Christ ascended to the right hand of the Father to reign eternally. He is with us always!

Divine Service will be held at 7:00.

Rev. David Lingard from St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne will be our guest preacher.

Alleluia! Christ ascended!
