Christ Our Refuge is a brand new church plant here in the Hewitt/Waco area.

We exist to be a refuge for the soul where you grow in the love of Christ and go with the love of Christ.

As we move into the season after Pentecost, we begin focusing on Jesus’ teachings. Our new series is called “Say It Out Loud” and we’ll start by looking at the Triune God.

Heavenly Father,

On this Memorial Day we pause in gratitude and in grief. We remember the sons and daughters, the brothers and sisters, the friends and neighbors who gave their lives so that we could live in freedom.

Draw near today to those who still carry the weight of that loss. Wrap them in your comfort and your peace. As we honor those who gave everything for others, we are reminded of the greatest sacrifice ever made by your Son, who laid down His life so that death would not have the final word.

May that hope anchor us today and every day. With thankful hearts we pray. Amen.

Our former summer vicar, Seth Marquardt, was just assigned to serve his vicar year at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. Our prayers are with him as he uses his gifts to serve God's people there!

Pastor Westra attended the WELS Campus Ministry Conference, learning more from other ministries and their work on campuses across the U.S.! He also ran into former summer vicar Collin!

God’s blessings to Lilia and Coco on their graduations! Lilia graduated from Baylor and is headed off to D.C. to start her career in government. Coco is graduating from Midway and is headed off to UT for her freshman year. Both have been such blessings to COR!

Today we attended the Nonprofit Palooza hosted by the Greater Hewitt Chamber of Commerce. It was a great opportunity to hear more about other nonprofits in the area and all the different ways they serve the community!
