The Sunday worship service begins at 9:00 a.m. and is followed by Sunday School at 9:50 a.m. Jacob's Church was organized in the early 1860s after a group of early German settlers on Piney Ridge decided to start a church. Work began on the church in 1861 on property owned by Jacob and Susannah Heffner. The church was named after it's benefactor, but many locals refer to the church as "The White Ch

urch." Lumber for the church was donated by local families such as the McCalls, Garners, Heffners, Specks, and Deans. Theobald Fouse added this church to the five he was already serving, and it became part of what was once the Woodcock Valley Charge. Jacob's Church was originally affliliated with the Reformed Church, and later The United Church of Christ. Jacob's Church became independent from the UCC in 2000, and became an incorporated nonprofit organization in 2003. The purpose of the Church is to provide Christian fellowship, worship, witness and service to its members and guests. Jacob's Church is often blessed with special music from it's very own choir and from guest musicians. Traditional hymns with spiritual depth and sound doctrine are coordinated with the pastor's message each week. Jacob's Church is also fortunate to have a fellowship hall nearby at the former Speck School. The red-brick school house was built in 1878, and purchased by the Ladies of Jacob's Church in 1949. Fellowship meals are held the second Saturday of each month from May through November. Junior Church is available for children ages 2-12 during the 9:00 a.m.
