Derry Presbyterian Church

Derry Presbyterian Church The first Presbyterians gathered for worship under the oaks in 1724, and now we're meeting online! Live stream worship 10:30 am Sundays on Facebook and YouTube.

Derry is a community of faith marked by joyful variety in its worship – by stimulating, creative Christian education for all ages – by opportunities for youth to be part of fellowship groups that minister to one another and to others – by hands-on mission outreach locally, nationally, and internationally – and by caring, nurturing support for one another as sisters and brothers in faith.

Derry Church seeks a relational, collaborative, and intentional leader to serve as our full-time Director of Christian Education. This role provides leadership for faith formation and discipleship across all generations of the congregation, with particular focus on children and families.

The Director of Christian Education will help cultivate a connected, Christ-centered culture of learning and belonging through Sunday school, children’s programming, retreats, volunteer development, and intergenerational ministry. This position works closely with church staff, volunteers, committees, and families to strengthen communication, coordination, and collaboration across Christian education ministries.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about faith formation, gifted in building relationships, and able to balance vision with practical leadership. The ideal candidate will bring warmth, creativity, organizational strength, and a collaborative spirit to this work.

Derry Church is an active and welcoming congregation committed to proclaiming God’s word, sharing God’s love, and practicing God’s justice.

In March 2026, about 40 Derry members traveled to Atlanta, Selma, Montgomery, Birmingham and Memphis to learn about the fight for Civil Rights that happened across these (and other) southern cities in the 1950s and 1960s. In this class, trip participants reflect on all they saw and experienced.

Today only: check out the Presbyterian Historical Society’s new traveling exhibit, “Faith & Justice in the 1960s: Religious News Service Covers Civil Rights,” on display in Fellowship Hall.

It features stories and images from PHS’s Religious News Service collection that focus on the early 1960s, and the profound impact of people of faith on the Civil Rights Movement. The photographs capture joy and cooperation as well as the violence and struggle that marked the push to end racial discrimination in the United States.

On May 21, 2006, Derry Church’s congregation approved the purchase of 245 E. Derry Road, a house located across the street from the church. Derry Church soon made plans to repurpose the building to serve in the church’s mission efforts.

In 2015, a new house built on the foundations of the original structure was dedicated to serve as the new home for Love INC in Greater Hershey (Love In the Name of Christ). Love INC of Greater Hershey was established in 2006 by local churches who wanted to work together transform lives and communities in the name of Christ.
