God wants us, all of us, to know Him. The greatest proof of this was when God was born as one of us and lived and walked among humanity. Jesus came as the Lamb of God, here to take our sin and rebellion and their consequences on Himself and He lived His life on full display for everyone. Even while taking our shame on Himself, having been beaten beyond recognition and hanging mostly naked on a Roman instrument of capital punishment, Jesus didn’t hide from anyone.
John the apostle, Jesus closest friend on the earth, said, “ And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14). John called Him “the Word”. God’s ultimate communication to us was Jesus. Jesus Himself said told his disciples that if because they had seen Him, they had seen the Father. They had seen God Himself. Even when Jesus was about to go back to His home after He came back from the grave and His work on the cross was complete, He said we would still see Him at work in the world. He said we receive power when He sent His Holy Spirit on us and then we would be His witnesses. Not witnesses for Jesus. Witnesses OF Jesus! You can’t be a witness for something or someone. You can only be a witness of something or someone. A witness tells of what they have seen! Have you seen Him?
This Christmas season, are you seeing Him? Do you know Him? He moved Heaven and Earth so that you would see and know Him. My prayer is that you can say with John, “and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.”
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!
