Hi, I’m Maddy!

My husband, Anthony, and I began attending the Corner Church in October 2025 after finding Christ together. I work as a marketer for a local tech company, so I started out volunteering on the Communications team to create social media graphics. As a self-proclaimed Bible nerd, my favorite graphics to design are key verse reminders from the weekly sermons.

While I was happy using my professional skills for God, I felt a persistent tug on my heart to use a different talent: singing. Growing up in choir, I loved singing, but I also loved the applause. I eventually defined my worth by my performance. After hitting a wall of rejection in college, my ego was wounded, and I gave up on performing altogether.

Once my identity was restored in Christ, I was terrified to step back onto a stage. I worried my pride would get in the way and make something meant for God all about me.

“Lord, if you want me on the worship team, you’ll have to make it loud and clear,” I prayed one Sunday as I walked into church. That exact day, right after the service, a member of the congregation turned around unprompted and said, “You know, you really should join the worship team.”

Message received, loud and clear!

Now, I love singing to glorify my Savior. One of my favorite lyrics is, “It’s Your breath in our lungs, so we pour out our praise.” Just like the Parable of the Talents, it reminds me that my voice, my time, my talent, and my breath aren’t mine—they’re His. Every Sunday, I pray for less of me and more of Him to come through.

When I’m not singing, you can usually find Anthony and me in the stroller section wrangling our sweet son, Ronin, or tuning in online from a hotel room during my work travels. I’m a big foodie, and in my free time, I love Bible journaling, scrapbooking, and sewing!

Meet Karungi: The creative force behind our Volunteer Spotlight posts!

“I moved to the States from Uganda a little over a year ago, and one of the first things I wanted to do was to find a church.
One day, my husband and I were driving when we saw The Corner Church literally by the corner! We decided to visit that Sunday, and from that very first service, I felt strongly that God wanted me to stay, grow, and serve here.
Because of my background in digital marketing, I joined the Social Media Team. It has been a wonderful way to use my skills to serve the Lord, grow in my faith, and connect with an amazing community.

Outside of church, I enjoy thrifting, decorating, doing DIY projects, baking and singing!”
