This battle was brought back to life through the passion of Eddie Burks and friends near the original battlefield. Our goal is to preserve history from the wicked mouths and miss guidance of some self appointed leaders.

154 years ago today in 1864, American rebels during their civil war manage to achieve the first sinking of a warship by a combat submarine in naval history.

The H. L. Hunley, named after its creator, was a hand crank submarine invented in South Carolina. In her short career she managed to kill 21 crewmembers in three instances of sinking. In attempt to attack the blockading fleet, it set out the middle of the night armed with a spar torpedo and sank the USS Housatonic. After this feat the submarine never returned to port and wasn’t discovered again until the year 2000, where the last known funeral of the war was performed on the remains of the crew.

We had a great meeting today as well as a final salute to our brother in arms
Justin Lee Sowell Mr. Whiskers..
He would have loved to have been here today with family and friends.. Especially to see his mother fire the same gun he carried in battle..
But we know he was watching from above with a smile and he’s in a much better place with bigger catfish!..
Fly high my friend! It has been an honor!
