FAST | Day 7
Its been a LONG week, but i know its worth it! We I believe it for powerful breakthroughs in our lives. It’s really remarkable that you have made it this far… Even if you have stumbled here or there along the way, it’s remarkable that you have made it 7 days on liquids only. As you are praying today remember, we have miracle/healing service tomorrow at Grace Pointe, please be praying that God show himself strong.
A Call To Return
Joel 2:12-19 (NIV)
“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing— grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God. Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber. Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, “Spare your people, LORD. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” Then the LORD was jealous for his land and took pity on his people. The LORD replied to them: “I am sending you grain, new wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy you fully; never again will I make you an object of scorn to the nations."
Devotion
We can see God's character in today’s beautiful passage. He is gracious, compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. With this right perspective, we can boldly come to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find help in a time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
Fasting is a time when we lay down our hearts before God and allow Him to sanctify us. Don’t just let this be a time of denying what you can’t eat. But let it be a time to live as a holy sacrifice. A time when you take all the things that are hidden before God in prayer.
He has the power to judge but allows us to seek mercy through fasting. Our flesh often goes into things with the motive of what it will gain, the physical blessings we will receive. But how much more rewarding it will be for our relationship with our Heavenly Father, if we walk out these 21 days fully pursuing Him for who He is. Not just what He can give us.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your words of promise when we rend our hearts and not our garments. I confess I often have insufficient fear of God to detect or hate my sin. Without Your help, I can hardly see my sin, much less rend my heart and truly weep and mourn over my sin. Send Your Holy Spirit to convict me of my sin and Your righteousness. Show me specifically how to posture myself in true repentance, as I lay down every burden of sin at the foot of the cross so that You can provide forgiveness and cleansing. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
It is hard for us to realize the depth of our sin (Psalm 38), and worldly sorrow over sin brings death (darkness, depression, and regret). As you pray for God to show you specific sins, ask for the gift of godly repentance so that you can experience the joy and freedom of forgiveness (2 Corinthians 7:10).

Fasting | Day 6
Finish Strong on day 6 of the complete fast portion of our 21 day fast!

Today’s Verses:
“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalms 46:10
“Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” Psalms 37:7
Devotional:
Still is not a word anyone would use to describe our society today. Mainly we embody the exact opposite. Frantic. Busy. Stressed. Fast-Paced. Hurried. Always on the go. Whether we fixate on flickering pixels, our ever-expanding to-do lists, or the urge to always be doing something—we have forgotten what it’s like to be still, and our souls are paying the price.
God knows we tend to find our identity in what we do, not in who we are, which is why He gave us the Sabbath. Sabbath comes from the Hebrew word “Shabbat,” meaning to rest or cease labor. It helps us practice “being” rather than “doing.” Having a regular rhythm of rest and stillness from our work is so important that God modeled it Himself, by creating in six days and resting on the seventh. God didn’t rest because He was tired, burnt out, and overworked—He was showing us the key to proper rest is to be still before you have to be.
A. J. Swoboda says, “A Christian does not see a Sabbath as a period of time. Sabbath, for a Christian, is a way of life. All of life for a Christ wanderer is a Sabbath. All of life is one big period of rest—not rest from the day job or rest from responsibilities, but rest from striving. From saving ourselves. From all of that.”
Use your time with God today to practice stillness. Be still in His presence. Take a deep breath. Rest in His goodness and love. Surrender all striving and ask Him to help you find your identity in who you are in Him, not in what you do.
Question:
How can you make time for stillness and rest in your weekly rhythm?
Prayer:
Jesus, help me be still and know that you are God. Help me to quiet my mind and soul enough to hear from you. Speak to me during this time. Release me from the burden of striving and help me to rest in your love. Help me to find my identity in you. Amen.

Fasting | Day 5 Bible Study … Returning to God
I’m super proud of you today!! Wow! Some of you have never fasted a day in your life, and to be on a journey like this, it says how serious you are about your relationship with Jesus this year….
As you begin to process the idea of returning to God, you will find that as you draw near to Him, you experience His presence in a deeper way. You begin to see Jesus more clearly. Part of this clarity comes because you are intentionally drawing near… but part of it comes because you are older now. You see life differently than you did five or ten years ago. With maturity often comes perspective, and with perspective comes revelation.
Many times, when you draw near to God, He gives you a fresh vision of Jesus. You begin to discover dimensions of His character, His compassion, and His wisdom that you may not have noticed before. What once felt familiar suddenly feels alive again.
It’s easy to have an “upward” vision of God… seeing Him on His throne, ruling over all creation, aware of your life but at a distance. And while that vision is important, it is incomplete on its own. You must also allow God to give you an “inward” vision. When He does, He begins to show you who you really are… who you were created to be… and what He has placed inside of you.
When your upward vision of God combines with an inward vision of yourself, it produces an “outward” vision. That outward vision reveals your purpose… your assignment… and God’s plan for your life. Fasting helps realign all three.
Saul, who would later become Paul, is a powerful example. He was extremely religious, yet he was not born again. He knew the Law but did not know Jesus. And yes… it is possible to be very religious and still not be truly converted. Religion often breeds criticism and cynicism. If you find yourself constantly pointing out what’s wrong… focusing on the negatives… or walking into church already irritated, chances are you may have a very active religious life… but a very famished spiritual life.
True conversion is more than walking to an altar or praying a prayer. True conversion is a revelation of who Jesus really is… receiving His unconditional love… and fully embracing the work He accomplished on the cross. That is why Scripture speaks of new birth. You must be born again. Not just informed… not just involved… but transformed from the inside out.
The same principle applies to your walk of faith today. When you gain a true vision of who Jesus is, faith begins to rise. Peter reached that moment. He had to decide… Is Jesus really who He says He is, or is this just another religious idea? When Peter fixed his eyes on Jesus, he stepped out of the boat and did the impossible.
The enemy’s strategy has not changed. His goal is to shift your focus off Jesus and onto the conditions around you. Because as long as your eyes are on Jesus, the enemy knows you can walk on water.

Think About It
1. Which area of your life needs the most attention right now…
your prayer life, thought life, Bible reading and study, relationships, giving, or church attendance?
2. What is one thing you can start doing… or stop doing… to see real improvement in that area?

Day 4 | Fasting
Hopefully the headaches are starting to ease up some. Don’t forget, drinking lots of water is crucial to be successful in your fast… And if you have had any small setbacks, don’t get under condemnation, just get back at it…
Perhaps you’ve never felt close to God. Or maybe you’ve had seasons of intimacy but you’ve either fallen away or allowed the cares of life to pull you away from that closeness with Him. Many times, when we decide to return to Him, to go back to our first love, we have this notion that there is a gulf we must span or great distance we must travel to get to where He is. This isn’t true at all. But for many, that is just how far away from God they have been. Maybe that’s how far from God you feel you have been. We think this distance can be bridged by hard work, lots of good deeds, going to church and all the trappings of a religious life. The problem is we’re working to bridge a gap that isn’t there. God is never far from you—you simply must turn to Him.
There is literally no effort on your part needed. All that is required is a simple turning back, a decision to shift your focus. A simple prayer of confession and a sincere plea for closeness and God is instantly right there. There is no need to go looking for Him, because He is right there where you are . . . even now.
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from your Presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
Psalm 139:7-8
Think About It
1. Are there times when you feel distant from God? Have you felt that way recently?
2. In your fourth day of fasting, are you beginning to feel closer to God or more sensitive to His presence?
