When no one was found worthy to loose the seals and open the scroll, John wept. What was it about this scroll? And why was it important to open and read the scroll?

When Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?" he wasn't asking what the truth really was. Instead, he was questioning its value. Meanwhile, Jesus went on to declare and demonstrate the truth in the most divine way possible.

Jesus? Or Barabbas?

Pilate offered the crowd a choice. He would release one prisoner to the Jews. The other would suffer death by crucifixion. The two options? Jesus of Nazareth, the only begotten Son of God, and Barabbas.

Those who are familiar with this account from the Bible know that the crowd chose Barabbas, a bandit, a revolutionary, a violent man who would likely offend again. In choosing Barabbas, the crowd sentenced Jesus to death on the cross.

Scripture tells us of three crosses that day. Three crosses, three men convicted of their crimes, three men condemned to die, only one of the men condemned to die was never convicted of a crime, while one of the men convicted was allowed to go free.

Jesus was crucified on a cross prepared for Barabbas. He died in the place of Barabbas. Jesus was innocent, Barabbas was guilty, but Jesus died in his place. He was the substitute.

However, as usual, when we dig deeper into the word, and into the meanings of the words within the word, things get more profound.

The name Barabbas is a combination of two Greek words... "Bar," which means "Son of..." and "Abbas," which means father.

So, when Jesus died in the place of Barabbas, He died in the place of the son of my father. The Son of God died in the place of my father's son.
.. and now you know "The Rest of the Story."
